Why wasn't he flagged as a criminal? Isn't this considered a hostile act? If I shot at him I would have been concorded into smithereens.
for the curious: I left after when I got out of his range.

possibly ... A.) At war with your corp (red star is default for war target not flashy red) B.) Member of your corp (can do whatever you want to a corp member anywhere and concord just smiles) C.) I don't know?

Well, considering he let you get out of range....I have to ask...are you sure you were even warpscrambled? I would bet quite a bit of isk that he named a can "you" near the gate, and when he warpscrambled it, you saw the message, "xxx is attempting to warpscramble [xxx]you."
Most likely, you were not even warpscrambled, you are just not familiar with common baiting techniques.

Yeah, my heart almost stopped when that happened to me when leaving a station in Ourslaut in my Indy full of goodies. Then I saw the continual spam on others... apparently a corp of 2 or 3 individuals were having some fun in Myrmidons. ----- Ymandra's Profile |

Nope I am not familliar with common baiting techniques :P
I saw the warp scrambling message where you would see the combat info. I do remember it was grey though and I found it odd. Was I baited? ------------------------------------------------ All is not lost, I have a ship and I'm a man! |

Yes, he was trying to get you to fire at him so you would lose your ship to CONCORD and he could pick up any loot you dropped.

This happened to me some time back.
After some forum discussioin, I petitioned to see if this was a legitimate tactic or considered griefing. It's legit, as long as it isn't in a starter system.
Cheers Falka

just a reminder,
scamming, lying, cheating (and i mean as in "to cheat someone" not violating the EULA), fooling, deceiving, griefing and baiting ARE allowed in Eve...
just double check everything. good thing you didn't return fire ;)
