that's right. i've decided to go caldari drone spec so i can throw wasp II's outta the drone bay of my geddon.
why?
1) DMG. raw dps isn't that far off from ogre II's, acceptable difference and afterall, this game is *not* won and lost on EFT.
2) kin dmg. the last thing i need is more EM or therm dmg. well i wouldn't mind having more therm then i do EM, *but*, dmg diversity is a tough thing to pull of in a laser boat so might as well get it from my drones.
3) speed. in a slow amarr boat it's nice to get my drones to and from the targets faster. those ogres are friggin pigs.
EDIT 4) almost forgot... PRICE. won't feel nearly as bad when a wasp II bites the dust then when one of those spendy ogres goes down.
that's all. that's my .02 isk on the subject, anyone else roll with t2 caldari drones? anyone might recommend another route?

Beserkers...
You got your lasers to deal with shields, beserkers will rip through armor.
Beserkers are the fastest of the heavy drones.
Unless you are doing missions and do so against rats where you need kinetic damage, beserkers are awesome...

interesting thoughts and worth considering, i do like how fast the zerkers are too. my only thing is that kinetic is better against shields, making it a more versatile dmg type. so if i need my drones to solo on a fast moving frigate under my guns i'd like them to be a bit more self-sufficient. though i suppose kinetic is a little more tanked then explosive... i dunno. thanks again for the advice.

I am training to use Wasp IIs for ratting, but I will not be using them for anything except that. PvP I used Ogre IIs, but might train for Beserker IIs.

I wouldn't worry too much on the explosive damage not being so hot against shield. Anything big enough for you to hit, your lasers should cut through the shield pretty quickly. And if it's too small for you to hit in any reliable way with your turrets, it probably doesn't have many hitpoints either, so the extra resistances probably won't make that much of a difference when five heavy drones are pounding away. (Besides, kinetic is second-worst against shield anyway so this probably isn't a massive deal-breaker). I've been using rat-specific (Tech 1) heavies with my Geddon, and I like the feel of the zerkers in combination with the heavy laser turrets. The speed is nice, and they compliment the laser damage well.
If you're considering PvP then I suppose the same arguments hold, possibly more so; chances are you won't be hitting anything small with your heavies anyway, and if you can't track something it will probably be more to do with their speed rather than their sig radius. In this case the higher speed of the zerkers will possibly give them the edge in doing some damage to e.g. MWD cruisers.
What I like about explosive damage for PvP is that if the opponent is omni-tanking, then explosive will be by far his weakest resist and you will be hitting that pretty hard with your heavy drones. If on the other hand he is fitting a tri-hardener setup, then EM will be his weakest resist on armour (and shields too!) and you can take care of that with your turrets.
All in all though neither would be a bad choice - I would tend to lean more towards the zerkers, partly for the speed and partly because they compliment the laser damage well so you should be able to do all-round decent damage against any set of resistances.

Berserkers are my favourite heavy drones. I will never use Ogres, they suck badly because they're so slow.
