Hi,
I have the skills ready, and almost enough cash for a basic Caldari cruiser [Blackbird?].
I'm wondering how much it costs to insure them, is there a way of telling beforehand?
I guess there must be a formula to it but I don't know what it is.
I'm hoping to use a Cruiser to mine low sec systems in ernest [Kermit the asteroid].
Would I be better off saving a bit more for the next cruiser up, so I can use minig drones?

The only thing i can think of to know beforehand what it would cost to insure anything would be the following:
Base refund is 40% of average marketvalue
Return on highest insurance is 1.2x marketvalue(right??)
If you had the highest insurance and you lost a ship, you would get 0.4+1.2x average marketvalue= 1.6
It would only seem logical that the highest insurance would cost the same or more than 0.6x average marketvalue of your cruiser.
Did I just make sense?
Hope it helps. Other than this i can't think of any other way to find out the info. Other than asking people who use insurance. I don't.

Nope. The basic 40% insurance doesn't add if you buy one.
Also it's not 1.2x market value (full insurance is called 99%), it's probably just based on a little older prices.

Go to the insurance icon on the right hand side of the screen, assuming you are at a station that offers insurance services.
Click on it, select your ship, right click and select insure. Check out the prices on the various options before you buy.

She hasnt bought it yet....She was asking what the average cost of insurance was on a BB. I am assuming she was asking the ones that own and have bought insurance for BB before.

It cost me around 1 million ISK for 99% insurance on my last 2 BBs.
For mining duty - the BB isn't that great. Low cargo space, turret slots, and no drones. If you want a good mining-duty cruiser - go for either the Moa (if you want to use Caldari ships) or the Gallente Thorax (probably one of the best mining cruisers). IMO.

if your gonna mine in a caldari ship at least use either a moa or osprey. low sec your gonna need some missle and drone coverage for when the rats show up
