I may be wrong but slaves are not an item useable by players. They are, however, a trade commodity like livestock to be bought and sold for a profit. I, being an slave that escaped Amarrian clutches, am (of course) extremely against slave trading and am wondering if there is a way to purchase slaves and bring them to a certain place to free them.

Ya, it's kind of a "role playing" part of the game. Read the Amarr background (on this site) and you'll see that the Amarr race actually conquered the Minmatar race in the past, however they rebelled and are now free. The "slave missions" indicate what is really going on behind the scenes with the Amarr, as the game tries to give you a sense of what the Amarr people (in general) are all about.
In a practical sense, the slaves mean nothing to the average player. They are valued only on the NPC market.

Slaves are one of the traditions that help make the Amarr Empire so powerful. The Amarr do not view slavery as merely an economic benefit but view it as a tool to help uplift and mould other races for the benefit of the galaxy.
The Ni-Kunni (the Amarr client race) were once a backward people but the Amarr found them, enslaved them and over the course of a few hundred years moulded them into useful citizens. Now the bvast majority are free contributing citizens of the Empire who share the Amarr's deep love and respect for the Holy Emperor.
The majority of the Minmatar are going through a similar process although some truculent sorts proclaim themselves 'free' and are trying to do their own thing. In the end however the Amarr will reclaim them and teach them the error of their ways.
Slavery is still legal in Amarr space but outlawed elsewhere. Various Minmatar 'terrorist' corporations attack this legitimate trade. They are in turn opposed by Amarrian loyalists such as myself who cannot tolerate uppity outsiders interfering in the running of the Amarr Empire.

Sounds so uplifting and glorious . However the "process" as my Amarrian coleague calls it, is brutal and inhumane. The use of vicious animals known as Slavers and addictive, poisonous narcotics like Vitoc are employed to control these so called 'future' citizens.
Oh and by the way... Reclaimation is a fantasy. It will never happen. Deal with it.
When at last they discover the center of the universe there will be many people who will be dissapointed that they are not it. |

Edited by: Randuin MaraL on 04/03/2004 15:42:41 Slaves and slavery are the reason why many minmatar and amarr pilots fight each other, liberation vs "property rights". Technically spoken, the slave objects are trade goods. There are more objects, like "damsel", "VIP", "slaver", etc. ____________________________________________________
