Michael Moore does show half truths, as any Canadian who watched Bowling for Columbine can tell you. He may have been able to just "walk into" a Canadian household down East where the liberals reign supreme, but he'd have gotten a bat to the face if he tried it here in Alberta; or worse, buffalo-billed.

I do believe it's heavily painted in the way Michael Moore would like it... but I dont think they lie in the movie, but I agree they mostlikely only shows the really bad ones.. but still (from the outside) it seems by the looks of it to be a very flawed system... I am thankful that we have public healthcare... although we do have some problems of our own (as I'm sure every system has)

Edited by: DarkMatter on 14/11/2007 23:23:45 I could make a movie exactly the opposite and find enough real life scenarios to film to make it look like all of America is like that.
Don't be foolish, Moore is a filmmakerÆs version of a con-artist...
We have the best and most advanced healthcare in the world. And we have virtually no waiting lists.
Unfortunately, not everyone can afford great care. But even the poor get some basic medical coverage. It's only those who choose to be losers that suffer greatly. And when I mean poor, $20,000 or less annual income can still get health care, it's paid for by people like me who make 5X that much.
We already have enough free healthcare in this country. If you're on Medicare or Medicaid and youÆre not elderly or disabled, it's your own damn fault IMO... Get off your ass and stop whining, or move to Canada or the EU, and they will be glad to take care of your sorry ass as they seem to love high taxes. We don't.

This man has never known what its like to go hungry, thus he doesn't see the glaring immaturity in his words. Michael Moore may stretch the truth to fit, much like a new pair of slacks, but he is by no means completely wrong as Dark Matter is attempting to put forward.
Each political and economic system has its pros and its cons, to imply that any one system is better than the other, or others, is blandly incorrect. Moreover, to blame citizens for the failings on their government, or to term their habits as lazy or their lives as useless is simply amoral. Every government is responsible for its citizens, even those that may or may not pull the same load as the rest.

There ARE several people who likes to thrive upon society without contributing, I think it's those he means, it's a problem here in Sweden as well, though, we ARE roting them out now, with great success too it seems.
In Sweden we've all got 33% tax if you make under a certain amount each year or around 52% else, I can't really complain, both my parents belong to the 52% class, and yet still we live better then most Americans do, we live longer, we're healthier and we are happier, can't really say from my point of view that there is anything in the American system that we don't have better or do better, but I'm not saying we don't have flaws here, we've got that too, but once we get those flaws ironed out, we'll be laughing even harder at the US then we do now

Maybe some people aren't happier, as the WHO suicide charts show ...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_suicide_rate
Not sure if it's the tax rate, or the lack of daylight in the winter months that screws people up. It does seem to be a Scandinavian trait though.
No vested interest, and not American either.
I'm surprised the UK is further down the list, but that's probably because people get shot or stabbed before they have a chance to commit suicide!

I don't trust a list that includes Iran in the lower portions; they're more likely to kill you than you are to kill you. Pure bias.

Micheal Moore will always slant the facts in his movies to fit his view and to put across his message. Thats no worse than any right-wing fascist bible thumping as*wipe from the south or republican muppet like Paul doing exactly the same. Shame you're not intelligent to understand that.
Quote: Don't be foolish, Moore is a filmmakerÆs version of a con-artist...
EVERY film-maker is the same, if you dont understand that by now, with your 100k a year earnings, your a bigger idiot than I know you to be.
Quote: We have the best and most advanced healthcare in the world. And we have virtually no waiting lists.
As long as you have the cash or the insurence. If not, then you'll be waiting. Want to know REAL medicare, go to France.
Quote: Unfortunately, not everyone can afford great care.
Some 30 million or so, 10 million children. But who cares about them right? After all, they're just the poor.
Quote: But even the poor get some basic medical coverage.
Yup, got cancer and they'll give you paracetamol for the pain. Basic as basic can be. Because of the way your state funded medical is, there is only a certain amount of funds to go around. That means that the doctors, medical proffessionals have to make a decision upon whom and what to spend that money on. Cancer is a very expensive treatment to fund. They'll choose NOT to treat a patient, especially towards the end of a fiscal year because they simply wont have the funds for it. Thats the truth of the matter over americas free medicare. Get used to the fact.
Quote: It's only those who choose to be losers that suffer greatly.
And here you enter into the realms of "aint I a stupid piece of sh*t scumbag". Not everyone is a big earner, not everyone can afford insurance, not everyone had your oppotunities and a mother to hold ya hand. I cant begin to say how much of a f*king tw*t I think you are for that statement.
Quote: And when I mean poor, $20,000 or less annual income can still get health care, it's paid for by people like me who make 5X that much.
Why arent you mr.generous? But the healthcare you mention is very basic and its a lottery on if you can get the treatment.
Quote: We already have enough free healthcare in this country.
Only an idiot thinks like that...hold on....... Quote: If you're on Medicare or Medicaid and youÆre not elderly or disabled, it's your own damn fault IMO... Get off your ass and stop whining,
How absolutely right you are. Especially those damn lazy poor people, you know, the blacks, the unemployed, latinos and poor white trash trailer park scum.... you must mean them right? Well, you mean everyone who isnt white, lives in suburbia and earns 100k+ a year. The only difference between you and h*tler, he killed everyone he didnt like. You'd just want to see them suffer first.
I dont care how popular you are in these forums, I dont care how many enemies i'll make from this reply. Sh*t, I dont even care if I get banned from here, but you have to be told what a stupid facistic little nub you are. America is about to go through a little economic turmoil caused by greed over the sub prime ( 5 TRILLION owed by the banks to various credit companies around the world). Most of your huge banks are about to take a mighty fall. Lets hope you are one of the lucky ones who manages to keep their jobs and medical insurance. If not........

Lazy is lazy, it does not matter what race or culture you come from.
There are plenty of people here in the US better off than me, and they are not all white...
This has nothing to do with race. It has everything to do with Michael Moore and other ultra-liberals wanting to setup a socialist nanny state to take care of those who purposely refuse to take care of themselves at the expense of those who contribute to society. NO! Not in this country!

My career path is for me and my family to benefit from, not some family who refuses to put in amy effort. Maybe all you Euro's are used to getting your asses taxed to hell to pay the way for slugs, but here in the US, most of us don't agree with that...

Everyone is hated by someone, doesn't really bother me...
I gave the WD character up a long long time ago to a corpmate, so no, that one is no longer me...
And if you think my opinions are of a small minority of this country? LOL, think again...
Most people who think like I do don't waste time on internet forums fighting ultra-liberals, they mostly keep quiet and just vote when the time comes. I however enjoy it, because I'm drastically outnumbered, that's the whole fun of it. If most of you agreed with me, I'd be off to some other forum because this one would bore me.
