If they could fix CTDs, they would be god. Not all CTD are their fault, so stop yelling at them for a fault in YOUR computer.

since this new patch you are wisked away on a magic carpet ride and are flown back each time you log or crash in space. Wish I could get back to my can.

CTDs have never been a cooling-related problem for me. Built a new system in November, pretty heavy gaming/performance setup...runs idle around 37C and runs Eve window mode with all the highest details etc around 46C
Pre-1389 I just about never CTD'd. With 1389 I was CTD'ing about 2-3 times per week--worst ever being a single day when I CTD'd 3 times in 2 hours each time happening when I doubleclickedd a bm or a folder in People & Places. From then on I was much more careful with how I used P&P, and I haven't had as many CTDs.
Hopefully 1403 will bring me freedom from CTDs again. It just seems to be a varying thing where one patch may be fine with almost no CTDs and another patch will cause a lot of CTDs. Same was true for me of pre-castor patching as well. |

Currently I am down to 41C and game is holding steady. I pray I am to blame for this.

Um... when the log shows a trace back to a module call from their code... it's their fault... so stop telling people to stop yelling at people for a fault in somebody's code....

Mouahhaha !
SÚriously, I got 0 crash to desktop. Get the apropriate graphic drivers.
The lastest release is not neceserely the best. On my GeForce2 GTS 32mo, I stay with 30.x coz 44.x+ make eve graphic go really wrong. Nice links (updated 20 Dec 04): BP, bugs about them. (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. Copy Bunny into your signature to help him on his way. |

Are you trolling?
The only application I own that ever CTDs is Eve. I played Earth & Beyond for damn near twelve months and for the last six months never had a CTD. Now I expect one a night (and am usually not dissapointed). This is on two separate machines, one a laptop the other a desktop.
CCP should sort this out. The E&B developers claim to be starved of resources but they fix their problems. -- (Battle hardened miner)

Please try to refrain yourself from comparing EVE to a chunk of garbage with a story line that doesn't move. E&B has EA for backing, CCP doesnt. CCP devs atleast listen to the public unlike the E&B devs who only listen to who they want to. As for CTD's all 8 machines I own in the house I live in, have only ever had a CTD on connection drop or back in aug/sept when the game had a few memory leaks.
Half of the machines I own are overclocked and tweaked for performance (Nothing to compensate the highest possible level of stability, and yes that means cooling to accommodate the increased thermal/[wattage] yield). So you must own a Compaq, Gateway or some other Mainstream system if your having problems. (AKA Likely made of generic, low cost components/hardware of which is prone to failure, high electrical noise, and/or thermal issue.)
Don't take this the wrong way but it's true.

Edited by: Gun Kata on 04/03/2004 11:00:41 I think Eve does not respond too well from overclocked cpu's and overclocked video cards. I used to overclock both to try and squeeze some more performance out of my hardware but had to revert to defaults when playing eve.
Edit: I don't get CTD's

Haven't had a CTD in months here on my main PC. [XP1900+/ 512DRR / RAD9800@Pro]. I think it's hardware specific. Whenever you have a CTD send the logs to CCP. If you can reproduce the bug/CTD run the logging app and send all logs + screenshots etc to CCP so they can fix it. Yelling "FIX THE CTD's" isn't gonna help as it's clearly a hardware/driver incompatibility problem.
My laptop has a BSOD whenever I press ESC tho. Im pretty sure it's a driver issue tho since this happend right after I installed new drivers for my videocard. ___________________________________________________

and you stop yelling idioting things to others because when isn't YOUR COMPUTER FAUL and also NOT YOUR NETWORK FAULT then is CCP FAULT
Beside since last 2 patches that I've daily CTDs but I learned to live with them...
But annoys the fact that when rats appeared or if someone uses drones in a asteroid the result is just one nice CTD ... but nothing better than refresh pc's memory.
I agree with the 1st post... Fix the problem instead of spending time nerfing things or giving more bugged functions.
Beside that and this is only for you!... chat up if you don't have anything to contribute to this post.
