Apparently stations have changed from base 50% mineral yield to 30% mineral yield. Thus taking my very specialized refiner down from 99.5%-5.0% base to 79.5%-5.% base. I ask, why? I doubt this is a bug as I've checked numerous stations in minmatar space and all are showing 79.5% yield to a refiner that has 5/5/1 refining.
Now, its bad enough that this change was implemented _without_ any prior indication as such, not in patch notes etc, but the only reasoning I can think of for it is for people to start training up the Misc Processing skills to help offset. I was under the impression that these processing skills would come into play when mobile refineries came out and would obviously be much less efficient than station refineries thus having a specialization in each ore refining would be very much to the refiners advantage.
Anyone else have this problem / have comments?

Yes, this was mentioned a while ago.. but your right in that i didn't see it in the patch note.
They said back a bit that some stations wouldn't have as good refining facilities as others (astrel mining Inc. will have 50% where as "we don't mine for **** co." won't).
That is why the extra skills were introduced, to offset these disadvanteges for those "specialized" in mining.
There are ways to work aroud this.
1) mine to a station with good facilities, you'll be back to your 99.5 or whatever.
2) Train up 1 or two of the special ore skills. which ever ore you mine the most.
3) pay someone or get a corp member to refine for you.
thats all i can think of. But in conclusion, not a bug, we were informed before. But why wouldn't they put that in the patch notes?

Thank you for clearing that up.
But yes, I still think something as major as that should have been put into the patch notes. I suppose it does make sense that other corporation stations wouldn't have the excellent refining capabilities of a mining station, but what does this say about mobile refineries? Are they going to go down to say 15 - 20%? I'd rather have the specialization refining skills be a higher rank but do more to offset such a waste in minerals really... |

Edited by: Ruffles on 03/03/2004 23:12:43 Good god? Normal stations at 30%? I thought that was only planned for mobile refineries?
/prays to the mining gods that this isn't true, not even more time mining

You forgot the last 5 % from corp standing. whatever they are now. a refiner may now have to work all over on the agents for a "mining corp"
Would have been nice with some form of notification on this one. but hey, that's the old customer relations song

What stations are you guys looking at? I haven't found one that isn't 50% base yet, and i've looked at 3-4 differnet corps' stations.

I seem to remember one set of discussions where they were five percent or so (ten percent yield out of one hundred percent; slightly confusing given the stations go zero to fifty). I do not know if this is still the plan, but it caused a few raised eyebrows.
