Forum Moderation Too Lenient?

Horseface McHorse	Posted - 2007.11.17 11:50:00 - [1] Does anybody else agree that people outright insulting devs/CCP on the forums without any repercussion reflects bad on CCP? Would anyone really mind if CCP did a bit more moderation to keep their image from being defaced for everyone to see? I personally think it would speak loudly. I hope someone sees what I'm driving at here (it's really freaking late, sorry) and elaborates for me. Would love to hear someone else's thoughts!

People that complain and have no better ideas. I don't want the forums to be like SONY where you say one bad thing about the game and are Banned for life. However the people that are Not adding "Constructive" Criticism I think should get some warnings. In conclusion: I think complaining should be ok if the purpose of it is meant to improve the game, not to just start a flame.

However doing what you've suggested is taking censorship to an undesirable level. People have the right to voice their opinions here all they want, and you (and CCP) have the right to take such opinions with a grain of sand. ------------------------- EVE is a sandbox with land mines, deal with it.

Personally, if CCP can't/won't enforce their own forum rules I wish they would close them instead and put all their efforts into maintain a really high quality, edited, Wiki. Let the community web forums get on with it dealing with the trolls. CCP can get feedback on changes easily by surfing a couple of the third-party forums in any case. CCP this is not the nerf you are looking for...

What we need is the Mods to be more generous with their banstick! Some threads are made for absolute no reason to spread discord and hatred on the forums. That's really not a bad idea tbh. CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that.

It looks like all the funding is going into making all the shiney new ships and stuff to blow other shiney ships to pieces. ("Not a bad thing at all", said the ship builder) I'm half tempted to apply as a volunteer just to help out some. As for CAOD....I never go there. I once got close enough to run a power tap to take advantage of the flames and made a run for it. Often, we have to wade through a sea of idiocy and agendas in order to find something worth reading. Personally I think a more zero-tolerance approach to obvious offenders would help out. It doesn't really bother me if people, who seem unaware of the concept of respect, are handed a lifetime ban for their efforts and I suspect it would make the forums a less tedious place for the majority of us. I don't think this is a censorship issue either, nor do I think it's a serious curtailment of civil liberties. Most people are uninterested in the ramblings of a malcontent or the insults or petty sarcasm of someone who just had his favourite ship nerfed. I too was thinking of volunteering for ISD but I'd probably be sacked for a too liberal usage of the modbat.
