Don't forget when comparing geddon to abaddon that geddon has a utility hislot. With a cpu imp you can easily fit a plated Megapulse geddon that also has a large armor remote rep. That is handy if you go out with several plated bs like megas. You can rep each other during fight or for prolonged sentry tanking.
For my work (mostly in lowsec) abaddon > geddon for pure gank as the sentries take away my drone damage much too fast.
As for the apoc: Seeing that the paladin is (again) a lasership, i rather doubt it'll be changed one bit. Apoc is doomed people, we should let the case rest.

Originally by: HarryManback apoc is not as useles as people are suggesting you just need to gank setup with plates and a nice gang and it is a decent ship.
It will have very bad dps. Both geddon and abaddon excel in the plated bs role, apoc just comes short. And if they tweak it (they won't) it should be anything but a plated gank bs, because amarr doesn't lack anything in that niche.

QFT
How about giving the apoc the ability to tractor in smaller vessels, and a smartbombing bonus. Not very useful, but it would be extremely entertaining.

The apoc can be saved and continue to be a laser ship. Among the EASIEST choices is to boost GREATLY its fitting capability. So it can fit real guns and real tank.
Tachyones without using any RC, that would give him a role.

Tachyons = 425s = 1400mms as said by tuxford himself.
There is absolutely no excuse for the MASSIVE draw-backs that tachyons have. They need to be balanced on their own, in respect to the abaddon and geddon. We do not need yet another laser boat.

Edited by: kessah on 19/11/2007 19:33:49 The apoc is the symbol of Amarrian might. Not the abaddon. I want it to be the command center its so prominently placed in the eve chronicles.
I want the fear damnit!
5% Optimal range or +7.5% tracking per level. 5% Energy cap usage for lasers
*naturally high capacitor, not quite as high now but still high*
125 drone bandwidth.
More grid and DEFINETLY more cpu. That would make the Apoc scary again.
If it cant hit for high dmg i think it should be a glorified gunship high tracking medium range killer. Perfect for 20-30km pvp range hitting bastard recons and alike.
I always used it for Megabeams pre Shiva *last time i used it like it was ment to* mega beams are sweet on the Apoc.* ------ [Video] Forever Pirate 4

I would love to see the good old apoc of fear back too, but I think that boat has sailed. CCP gave us the abaddon instead of a the drone boat we should have gotten.
Of course with a 25% optimal bonus to tachyons you would have to reduce the amount of turrets to 6.
Hey maybe that woudl still work.
+10% drone dmg and 5% optimal per level.
7/5/7 125 m3 drone bay
=)

I think the Old Apoc still got some life left in her. The Abaddon is a nice ship, but The Apoc like it used to be was able to so much more. Tank and hit hard and fast.
The Abaddon is mainly used for plate and dmg, but its got no longevity - i reckon making the Apoc more durable and hit harder from a larger range.
The Apoc could easily find a role with 8 turrets high tracking/optimal perhaps with 5 web drones and a fat off range bonnie you'll force opponents mainly gallente i suppose to fight you and your optimal.
