But to answer the OP, the Capacitor is exactly that, a storeage for energy that isnt used to power engines and life support etc

They use a lag drive. That is why people constantly go to Jita, they are refueling.

According to the fiction, Amarr power generation technologies are vastly superior to everyone elses.
I just wish it was the same in-game.
The technology is superior. They just fit less of it in order to make room for the chapel and library of religious texts they rely on for divine protection ------- There is no magic Wand of Fixing, and it is not powered by forum whines. |

The cap energy comes from the ships power core.
Energy is produced by:
Gallente : Fusion reactor unit Caldari : Graviton reactor unit Minmatar : Nuclear reactor unit Amarr : Antimatter reactor unit

So this is why Caldari ships have such a freaking high mass... its their Graviton reactions. They generate energy out of pure heavyness!

that makes sense. is it for real or just a well setup explanation?

Thats actually what the game lists them as. If you look in the items, specifically space-ship components, thats where they are.
I agree though, all EVE ships are powered by the LAG drive, except Caldari who run on pure heaviness.
