Edited by: Silentbrick on 19/11/2007 02:25:23 Just fair warning to all Raven pilots or cruise missile users. Check your range.
With the last patch, top speed of cruise missiles has dropped 2,000 m/s. I have Caldari Battleship 5, Missile Bombardment 5, Missile Projection 4 and top speed on my cruise missiles went from 7250 to 5250. Range wise that's a drop from 217km to 157km.
Rechecking the dev blogs and patch notes reveals no warning or comment from CCP about these changes.
Thanks ever so much for making PVPing as Caldari so much harder. Eve is on that lovely Star Wars Galaxies plan I believe. At times I almost miss my Master Armorsmith from there...then I remember how the entire game quickly became musical nerfs.
It's sad to see a game with this much potential circling the drain at the urging of it's developers.

I think you both better report to Eve Uni right quick, cause apparently you cannot read. I didn't say I was quitting. I'll be here til the game dies, which isn't long from the look of things.
Reading Comprehension FTW.
And feel free to contract your personal, corp and alliance assets to the Uni. Donations are appreciated.

If the implications it has for PVP are beyond you, then clearly you have some serious blind spots in your tactical doctrine. Suffice it to say that we often use extended cruise missile bombardment to drive snipers away from gates in empire warfare. Sniper battleships very often have little or no tank and a Raven with a moderate tank plus cruise missiles is very capable of driving snipers away from a gate so our lighter units can transit without coming under fire. Yes, it does not often kill a sniper, but driving a sniper off to prevent the enemy from getting a few free ganks of frigates and other light craft is well worth it.
And BTW, this is live on Tranquility, not Sisi. All it takes is a quick check to see.

Logged back in and looked. It's now back to what it was before 7875 m/s which at 30 seconds flight time is 236km. Yet when I was firing at a war target earlier tonight, I was not hitting him at 180km. So maybe they screwed something up in the patch, I don't know, but it was definite and several of my other raven pilots confirmed it. It's possible there was a bug in the raven's bonuses, which would negate the 50% velocity bonus it gives at level 5.
Not sure. But definitely very strange.
Maybe it's time the Uni offers a 'How to use a Raven in PVP' class. Anyway, they are very useful in Empire wars.

It was not a display bug. I was firing at a stationary target at 188km away and my cruise were not reaching the target. When I checked show info, right clicking on the cap display, going to modules and checking the attributes of the missiles loaded, it showed missile velocity at 5250 m/s and flight time of 30 seconds.
As stated, with skills, it should have been 7875 m/s and 30 seconds. One of pilots who served as the warp in point was also there and witnessed it. After our fleet returned to our HQ, more than 20 jumps away, I double checked the missile info while loaded from the fitting screen in the station and it was the same.
From the logs, time for the second attack was [ 2007.11.18 21:35:47 ]. End time for the first based on warping away from the engagement area was [ 2007.11.18 21:31:59 ]
Target's name was Aldamir Anarion (Claymore). Location was Pakhshi, on the Tar gate.
