Salvaging is about the best way for a new player to make a decent amount of ISK. When one of these thieving alts comes along and salvages the wrecks, it is my opinion that they are stealing from the player that went through all the effort and risk to destroy the ship in the first place. I know that CCP has stated that wrecks do not belong to anyone but I feel CCP needs to change their stance especially in the case where a large population of the new players in the game relies on salvage to subsidize their bankroll.
If CCP implemented a change that would make wrecks unsalvageable by characters outside of group/corp/alliance for a period of 1 hour, it would be an easy no harm done solution. It would not provide the opportunity for baiting and would give a reasonable amount of time for the player who created the wreck to salvage it.
Maybe it is just me but I get the impression that the people who repeatedly post on this topic in defense of the thieves are the thieves themselves, protecting their no-risk money making scheme. But I will be the first to admit that impressions could be deceiving

you just described both side in this argument bro
But the person running the mission does face a risk, albeit a small one. There is nothing preventing these salvaging alts from running their own missions except that it takes time, and it is more efficient to salvage the wrecks from others.

That comes across as the perfect definition of a salvage thief.
I donÆt see how, as you put it "a time flag", would hurt anyone except the laziest and greediest of them all. Who else but the salvage thief would this small change affect in a negative way?

It is not about "hurting" players, it is about rewarding players who are lazy and greedy. I don't see why mission runners, who are too lazy and greedy to leave their high paying high sec mission running systems for quieter systems where the pay is less, should be rewarded for doing.........nothing. The rewards of the mission runners for being lazy far outstrip those of the salvagers.
I responded to the problem of salvagers by putting myself in a position where I still have a good income, but am not worth the time and effort to probe out.
Why should my effort to evade the salvagers be effectively negated and those who make no effort be rewarded for their whining?
If people want to make their income from running missions over and over and over again and salvaging over and over and over again, then so be it. That is what they should be allowed to do. I do not see justification for allowing a loop-hole to remain open to punish a particular group of people because another particular group of people do not agree with their style of game-play.
As you put it the ôlazy greedyö mission runner deserves to get their salvage stolen because they are lazy and they are greedy. That is their punishment. On the other hand, the ôlazy greedyö salvage thief has no punishment, has no fear of a negative reaction to their action and can do what they do with absolute immunity. This is not balanced. It is my opinion that if there are potential reprocussions for one style of game-play then there should be potential reprocussions for ther other style of game play.
