A quick question for you Brits: do people over there really buy a Kia to pull a caravan? 'Cause that just ain't right. I know Clarkson didn't like the F150, but it really is a properly done truck, and that's what you need to get yourself above 35 while towing anything that matters.
Originally by: CCP Eris Discordia Top Gear is awesome and I want either of them to be my driving instructor, except James...he¦s too slow I might as well walk
Eh, none of them are particularly great drivers on the track; that's why they have The Stig. James might actually be the best of the three (getting personal instruction from Jackie Stewart and all).
I rolled my eyes when they pitted the 5 series diesel against the petrol version and "proved" the diesel is slower by giving Clarkson the diesel and Stig the petrol. The Stig could have beaten Clarkson in a 3-cylinder Geo Metro.

<3 All about soutpark/family guy sites. I still have a bet for ú20 going for someone to interest me in mainstream American TV beyond those 2. There are only 2 British shows I watch with the exception of the news, Doctor Who (lil sis loves it and we watch it together) and Top Gear. Everything else I watch invloves the language of the land of the rising sun

You most definately don't need 500 bhp to tow a caravan... And it's not a properly done truck. The sceptics can whine what they want, but the F150 review in Top Gear is properly done, and show exactly why it's rubbish...
Besides, in Europe we have Volvo's to tow caravans. And considering i've seen enough of them doing 80 mph on the freeway, i'd say yes, they can tow stuff that matters over 35.
edit: Watch it, and watch it closely. It's rubbish.

An F150 is around 250hp right now. Even the Super-Duties (F250 and up) don't usually do more than 300hp (though their diesels have quite a bit of torque compared to that, as you'd expect).
By his own admission, Clarkson doesn't know much about trucks. Yes, I know the interior is a bit cheap. Ford makes all their interiors cheap. Yes, the steering does have lot of play. In a normal car, those things would matter. In a truck, what matters is how rugged it is and how much weight you can throw on without affecting gas millage. The F-series is very good at that.
The dominance of the F-series is due in part to the fact that Toyota doesn't make a diesel truck for America yet (though that doesn't explain the high sales figures of the F150, which also doesn't come in diesel), and partially because it's done right for what it needs to do. Clarkson should stick to supercars.

He only said that it sucked if you live anywhere in Europe. Which it does, really :D
Still, big problem with it is the suspension and the lack of 4wd... I wonder why it doesn't have it.

I said F150's right now are producing around 250hp. The Top Gear video is a few years old, when they were indeed using a more powerful engine.

The reason Top Gear works is the presenters, the three of them just play off each other so well it makes the show, you could put jezza hamster and captain slow in a white room and have the 3 of them slag each other for a hour and I would watch it and think its awesome. The chemestry between them just works.
QI also a excellent show allways liked Stephen fry.
So I guess its DAVE TV FTW

Bad jokes and too much testosterone and hairy ballsacks to be of any interest for me. These ren't top gear specific problems but occur in most car programs. Funny how taste can differ so much. But I agree on that Britain produces lots of good shows. And above all, good actors!
