One thing that MUST be wrote into the contract this time, is that something so epicly fail, as failing to qualify for a world/european cup = dismissal ***WITHOUT*** further pay. As it stands McClaren is going to get about ú2m compensation for being what the majority would consider incompetent. What kind of a job would pay you to stop doing it, because your incompetent?
There is not being as good as others (going out in the first round at the tournament, thru to not reaching the final) however im sure few would dispute that failure to qualify is incomptent.
The FA threw how much money away on Sven, after he quit? Its ridiculous. Personally i think its gotta be The Special One, Wenger or Ferguson. Im pretty sure the latter two wont leave their current clubs yet, certainly not to play friendlies next summer, so (/me crosses fingers) c'mon Jose

Ferguson won't manage England as there is a chance he'd have to lead England out against Scotland, and he says he could never do that.

Tributes are being paid to Scotland this morning after the entire country laughed itself to death.
The alarm was first raised at around 10pm last night as thousands of phone calls and text messages went unanswered.
Small groups of volunteers from Berwick-Upon-Tweed and Carlisle ventured north just after midnight only to find houses full of dead people gathered around still blaring television sets.
By dawn, as RAF helicopters flew over deserted city streets, it was clear that the whole country had suffered a catastrophic abdominal rupture.
Wayne Hayes, a special constable from Northumberland, said: "We went into one house in Dunbar and found three men sitting on the sofa with huge smiles on their faces, still holding cans of 70 shilling. They seemed to be at peace."
He added: "In a house near Edinburgh we found a man face down on the living room floor with his trousers and pants round his knees.
"It seems he may have been showing his bare buttocks to the television when he keeled over."
Roy Hobbs, a civil engineer from Northampton, said: "I got a call from my friend Ian in Stirling at about 9.50pm.
"He was already laughing when I answered the phone, but after about 25 minutes of the most vigorous and uncontrollable hilarity, everything suddenly went very quiet."
Moving tributes are already being placed along the Scotland-England border with many mourners opting to leave a simple bag of chips or a deep fried bunch of flowers.

Yes.only what i see here is england england and egland.Reminde me.Who won.Who playe beter.That 3 goals wasnt just some stupid goals.All of them where lovely goals.So people talk more about Croatia.That is team who won.

scots crusader.....dude what makes me sad on my part at least was that i wanted scotland to qualify....i was really hoping you did it, and i think many english fans also felt that way, you worked your ass off and almost pulled it off....would be nice if you showed the same respect to the english side....although i have to admit, even being english i was hoping we wouldn't be there cause we didn't deserve to be.....but play nice.....

Aye mate. I would honestly love to say I wanted you lot to win, but I did not. Would you want France or Germany to qualify? The answer is no obviously. This is a normal thing, they are seperate countries same as us. The whole British thing does not take away from the fact that we are seperate countries. As for respect, your team deserves none. Lampard and Gerrard, the two most over hyped players in footballing history do nothing for you. Your best midfielder retireed from internationals, Paul Scholes.

Like Beckham not reaching 100 cap or Bilic not being allowed to coach West Ham or some English series that are currently filmed in Dubrovnik that would switch shooting in Kosovo if Croatia wins. ROFL. Do it switch it we don't need it. English tourists not coming on summer break in Croatia etc.
In short you were arrogant *****s from day 1. And i am so glad that you get to cry us all a river on finish. After defeat from Croatia in Zagreb it was field fault, a rains fault, a threats fault that you lost. Not just vs us. It wasn't your fault when you lost in Moscow either. Whos fault is it this time? England had no real fight, they were given a chance. an amazing chance and it just looked to me that they couldnt be bothered.
what they need to do is stop playing all these highly paid players that have no pride and put on some of the young guys from lesser teams...
the individual players dont make a good team, its the unity that makes a good team.
the english players think they are the best in the world, they are far from it.
best thing is that they didnt sc*****through.. if they did they wouldnt have changed anything, they would have went to the euros and had another average tourny.. least this way they obviously know they have a problem.
