So far making players aware of your recruitment, or finding a corporation to join has been limited. You could either go to the recruitment forum or the in-game recruitment channel and compete with thousands of others, but no more. We're revolutionizing recruitment in EVE, or at least making it better and easier. Are you brave enough to join Fear's corporation? If you are, read I want you (to join my corp)! by Fear!

This looks very interesting and has promise for doing more in-game recruiting.
Would it be possible to have add any measures of effectiveness? For example, adding a "views" or "hit counter"?
That would perhaps allow different adds to be placed in different areas and then compare them to see which ones were more effective.

This is about as cool as it gets. I've alwyas wondered why, in a game based on corporations, there isn't a better recruitment tool. Big corporations here usually, go to the better universities and recruit the best students, the same would be true in the future. Plus, it pays to advertise :)

might i suggest one more listing for the "operations" part of the details. I would suggest adding "logistics" and/or "hauling". While not a huge vocation in eve, it doesnt fit nicely into any of the other types listed, and it is something that people do as a specialzation.
---
Otherwise I think this is a sweet concept, and will enjoy toying with it once it goes live on TQ.
IMO best and most well thought out, new mechanic being introduced this coming patch. --

That's some fee for a single line listing -- will our ads show up on the billboards too? How about on the scrolly text tickers that go around in some stations?
Advertising in the corp page is ok. Advertising visually -- now that'd be awesome. Now just get rid of all the damn anchored cans.

This is an excellent idea, but I think needing to have an office in a region might somewhat cut this feature off at the knees. The blog itself speaks of needing a way to more visibly communicate with the other 200,000 users. This will not do that.
Smaller corporations probably in the most need of recruiting may not have the resources to spread news of their recruitment. You may also see people renting offices in very popular spaces not because they wish to operate out of that space, but because they want to post these ads.
Great idea, but I've found that sometimes when games try to implement something with a very simple purpose, they tend to over complicate it making it less then the popular choice. |

Edited by: Schrodingers Cat on 21/11/2007 17:39:24 Use Anchoring to limit the number of anchored GSCs, and all the advertising attached to them, and also add a way to track where you left one, like the bookmarks are tracked.
It only says that you need to have an office in the Region, not a specific constellation, perhaps this will help rent out some of those abandoned stations way out in boonyland.

This might be possible, but then the DB programmer will have to look into that if it's too heavy. It also might need some design changes, so i'm doubtful at this time, but I'll look at it.
Quote: might i suggest one more listing for the "operations" ...
Not a bad idea. The greatness on how it was implemented in the background, is that the categories are dynamic. Meaning that I (or anyone else) can add categories without needing a huge programming effort. So this is a high possibility.

Well, the station environment perhaps not but that needs to be explored. Billboards has been discussed as well.
But overall, the visuals of this will enhance in one of the first patches following trinity. then we won't have just single line, but some more information listed in each listing. As well as some tweaking.
Not going into much detail about it, as it's still on the drawingboards, but what has been discussed is player submitted banners, Ambulation, Billboards and so forth. So we are just beginning with this now, and this will be expanded upon later with more options and goodies.

Good job on the recruitment thingy. Especially like where you guys want to take it into the future. Only remark from my side, the categories might need tweaking.
Manufacturing: OK Mining: OK R&D: OK Mission runners: hmmmm, OK, can't come up with a better description (farmers maybe?)
Ok, we had the carebears, now for the actionjunkies

Might give a better ingame feel to the occupation thingies. |

You can actually see your assets (like anchored GSC's) in Corp-Menue.. so this is allready implemented

Sounds all nice and candy.. <3
But - yeah, I know, we can't get enough and are never pleasured with what we have - do you plan to do something SOON(TM) about the POS-Managing-Bugs(..Roles/Rights/Alliance-Sharing) Bug ID: 46078 and also about the Corporation-Bugs (Roles/Rights/...) Bug ID: 45815 ? I just ask, as other Bug Reports from me got fixed in Kali 3 or at least where attached to a Defect (good work!).. but those two above have 'only' been Filtered since weeks and this makes me a bit angry (although they're known bugs for months).

Edited by: Aronis Contar on 21/11/2007 18:23:08 Looks really neat. Simple but effective.
Three questions though:
-) Why the limit of one region per ad? Most players generally couldn't care less in which region a corp is at home, especially in High Sec. Getting a choice of maybe "All Empire Regions" there would be nice (we have offices in pretty much every region, and we generally don't care where our players hang out).
-) In the "Other Adverts" tab, for the "Region" dropdown box, are there more choices than just single regions? Like "Any", "All High Security", "All Outlaw", etc...? Or does someone who doesn't care which region a, let's say, skirmish corp operates in, have to search again and again?
-) Would it be possible to get an additional option in the ad creation "Allow applicant to see closest office", so that a prospective corpie can do something like right click on the ad->Set Destination to Closest Office? The standard question at the end of every positive interview is "So, where do I apply?", which usually results in me spinning the map around like crazy, trying to find a convenient office.
OK, those were like... 5 questions, sorry :)
Ciao, Aronis!

As the developer of eve-careers.com, I'm curious as to how deep this system will go.
Will it implement new API key data/functions? To enable better interactability between eve-online and eve-careers? - These words are my own, and are not affiliated with any corporation, alliance or any other organisation

I like the idea there is a few things that I do not like though.
There should be an option for players to apply to the corp without having to travel to a office of the corp. A personal CV for each character could be attached prety much the same as you see here but with a simple and up to date list of total skillpoints, ships flown, security status and a free form text bit where one can type say 1000 chars...
This way only if a corp is intrested does a player have to go to the office to accept the position in the new corp if they have to go there at all.
Other then that I like the general idea a lot finaly a better way then wadding past the ISK selling bots in the recruitment chanel.
------------------------------------------- Should you disagree with me, well I guess that is because I disagree with you. If you have a problem with that please feel free not to tell me. |

I've been around the recruitment forum a bit, and it seems that this is a good idea, but there is something lacking that is still a key aspect in the recruitment posts.
There is no mention of what ships you are required to fly anywhere.
A lot of specialized corps, like a Recon one, will ask you to be able to fly a covert ops ship or a recon one. Same applies for an highly specialized mining corp deep in 0.0 that will ask for hulk pilots.
I think that the ship type you are looking for, as an employer, defines the operations that will take place each day. industrial ships implies transport/mining, while Cap ships generally implies POS warfares, blob encounters and long range logistic operations.
By adding able to fly ship type to the info and research, this would be a powerfull tool that would help us to see the options we have when flying an unpopular ship (ever tried to find a corp heavily using stealth bombers?) Finding the players who like to use the same ship type as you is already a big step to build bonds and stay in that corp. It would help reduce the corp hopping because someone is looking for a specific play style (that is heavily related to the ship type you use)
Other than that, thumbs up!
this is a good idea, just need to be pushed a step further!

All looks nice...
But , what about current bugs in corp screen? For instance , the proces of unlocking bpo's... Currently i got so many entries in my 'not in effect' tab , that to sanction the unlocking of one bpo , my game lags out for 2 minutes. Last time our corp moved offices i spent a full 2 weeks merely sanctioning the unlocking of 200 bpo's...
Lag , bugged entries , nonexistant entries,...
Guess everyone agrees there are more fun things to do in eve...

Edited by: Stellar Vix on 21/11/2007 19:09:46 Would it be possible in the future to redo the applications to somewhat reflect the advertisement system?
For Example, chosing options of you're profession area wished to be operating in, ships qualified to fly (as mentioned in the post 24) and skill point input or even better a button to allow the application reviewer to review the appying player's skill point layout.
This will help applying players to send alot of inital information especially when recruiters arent reguarly availabe.
Also would be possible for pilots to advertise themselves avialable? so that active recruiters can hunt down thier potential employees. I wouldnt mind a 8k-80k isk fee a month for the pilot persona ads if it gets me a corp whos activly interested in getting members.

Looks pretty good.
First off, it looks like you set the default race when searching to your own race, but it looks like the default race for an advertisement is blank. Any chance you can set the default when creating an ad such that all races are selected by default so that people uncheck the ones they don't want, as I expect most corps will be selecting them all anyways.
Next, while you are fixing corp recruitment, is there any chance that you can create on option to set a corp to "not hiring" so that people cannot spam your directors with applications? Or at least lets us set an application fee.
I am actually suprised that I haven't seen ISK selling spam transmitted through that channel yet.

Well, so far it certainly seems like a good idea.
But when talking about expanding it, as in pictures, etc, I think the CONCORD billboards are the perfect thing for these. Ever since I first started playing years ago, I've always wished those had a more important purposes, there are already ads on them, so player ads would be nice.
