Sephira Galamore wrote:Wot I Think wrote:Jita and Amarr are 184 lightyears apart. A freighter leaves Jita traveling towards Amarr, and another freighter leaves Amarr at the same time, traveling towards Jita. The freighter leaving Jita averages 10 lightyears per hour more than the other, and they meet after 1 hour 36 minutes. What are the average speeds of the freighters? 10 ly / h diifference -> 16 ly difference after 1:36h 184 ly - 16 ly / 2 = 84 ly Thus.. Slow freighter: 84 ly in 1:36h = 52.5 ly / h Less slow freighter: 100 ly in 1:36 = 62.5 ly / h
With those speeds they would meet way before they undocked (in a suitable reference frame). |

How long till the train exists the tunnel? Is that a nautical mile or a land mile? A proper Kilometre
Also, how many people get off at Boston on the way to New York in these freighters? Real men wear goggles and a Navy shirt! |

We lack serious data to provide a reliable answer!!!
Do both fly in autopilot or manual all the way in? Do both pilots have Adv spaceship command maxed or not? Do both pilots have the same navigation skills? Do both pilots fly alone or some corpie it's webbing them at gates? Do both pilots are being bumped for fun by some bored capsuleer? Do both pilots have the proper clearance papers, or will some gate delay they warp in? Do both pilots carry something worthy to be ganked? Do Jita pilot GET OR NOT STUCK in Jita 4-4 after trying to warp to perimeter stargate? (personal exp i swear)
Can provide more variants to prove how incomplete your original data is but i'm not bored enough |

what method is being used to verify that each ship leaves at the same time? how does this method hold up under the laws of relativity? what method is being used to measure the relative velocities of the freighters? are the freighters using a shortest route or are there any anomalies they have to avoid? where is the observer relative to the freighters? |

Seeing as how special relativity is a theory, and has no laws...nothing exceeds the speed of light except...time is relative to the kind of watch you're using...speed is determined by the calibration of each individual instrument...I'd say we have an unworkable problem here.

I thought the string was a planck length in diameter, but could be infinitely long. Or am I thinking of superstrings?

Without a train, there would've been no reason for that tunnel to exist. This is my signature.-á There are many others like it, but this one is mine. |
