2 because as a Carrier pilot I need a cyno account.
I will probably cancel it once I sell my Carrier after the Trinity release.

1, though I wouldnt mind a carebear industrial alt, than again I don't think I have the patience to do all that stuff and it will probably become a combat miner trying to lure in can baiters to pop them for fun  .

1x industrial + pvp + cov ops + freighter
1x industrial + sience + mining + carrier + freighter
all chars are capable of pvp and industry... except my main.. pure combat... nothing else

1) PvP/Mission Runner - Gallente/Caldari-gun speced
3) Miner (exhumer or running links)/Freighter/Refiner/Builder - future carrier/rorqual pilot
3) PvP/Pirate (lowsec mostly) - Gallente Spec
4) PvP/Pirate out in 0.0 - Amarr Spec
5) Uber Scan Prober (max skills w/implants and rigs) and Sales - Also builder/hauler/miner(exhumers 5)
6 & 7) Training Research Alts to move into the other accouts thanks to Power of 2. So these two will probably close down in about 6 months after I'm done training the alts and move them onto the other accounts.

one pvp one miner
and a little tip for those of you having trouble with 2 accounts on 1 computer,
right click the executable for eve, and run in compatibility mode then u can run two instances without little to no problems :)

Two. One to concentrate on combat with one race, the other to dabble with combat on another race, and also dip into production/mining.
As far as number of accounts go.. I think two is the golden number. I can't see why people have more
