We have NPC pirates for hunters to go fight We have NPC concord/police to stop the security areas not getting ganked.
Why dont we have npc miners in the low security areas?
They could turn up on belt that have loads of roids and maybe mine at a very low rate so that they dont actually burn up the roids for the players. And I would think it would be good if they only started turning up on belts that havent been mined for a while.
There could even be haulers going to an fro and a few defenders like there are in the player driven mining operations.
This would give pirates something to do and also would make it interesting for player miners who want them out of systems they want to mine.
Also how about adding in non "concord invincibles" into the low security areas so that pirates can fight them? Like a caldari navy expedition here and there. Kinda like the NPC pirates but somethign that could be fought and actually lower you sec ratings. and not on asteroid belts
Maybe add a few non- active bases that are currently being built by the different NPC corps in the low sec areas so there are some heavily defended areas for pirates to assualt en mass.
A lots of other mmorpg's thrive on having a good variety of possible opponents to fight, but here we just got differently named pirate mobs and the fighting of them always feels the same regardless of what npc pirate corp they belong to.
Im not sure about the whole pvp problem, but i think there should be more incentive for pvp players to actually seek out other pvp players rather than the ones that dont want it - i mean its not pvp if only one side wants to fight. Thats player versus victim.
I may be way out on some of these ideas but i though i would put myh two isk in

NPC miners and haulers for pirates to go and kill???
Add CONCORD for the pirates to kill, I thought the buzz of being a pirate was out witting player.
Not being a pirate myself I can't say for sure but what you can get from killing a PC hauler or miner will be a lot more than killing yet another rat, just a less armed one! -----------------------------
It's all about the fortune and glory, fortune and glory!

Actually this is a bloody good idea. Give pirates reasons to do more than just gate camp (belt hunting rarely works becuase of the local window).
I have the body of a supermodel. I just can't remember where I left it... |

How powerful would the NPC miner haulers have to be to withstand a direct pirate assault?
As it is now most rat spawns can be taken out by a fairly competent pilot and not even in a Battleship. -----------------------------

They dont necesarilly have to be less armed, we pc miners use drones that are pretty effective even as a defence against players, so maybe the npcs should too, and i did mention having a couple of defenders aswell
Obviously as you go lower down the sec rating the harder the defence is.
I realise its not a perfect idea but an idea that could be interesting nonetheless.
of course one thing that the game is missing (im not saying it SHOULD have it) is the presence of other entities that exist in other sci fi games.
Alien races etc etc.
I dont know how well they would fit in to the whole feel of the game though.

Yes i agree i also get the impression that pirating is mainly about pvp and the thrill of outwitting another player - and i can understand that.
but if other options were available - such as this one - then would other pvp players be drawn to it inbetween finding players to fight?
There is also the possibility that other pvpers would turn up there aswell and there you got you pvp fights as opposed to hunting down players that dont want pvp combat.
Could also make it intersting if youve got multiple players fighting over the same spot whilst trying to take out the miner defenders aswell.

Why not just make EVE a single player game?
Anyway, maybe they could just make more "professions". PC Police would be cool or investigators. They could roam searching for pirates.
Usually when there's a lack of things to do in an mmog game, it's better to add more kinds of player interaction than npc interaction. Some games are really just solo fests. It's a single player game with a chat room. I'd hate to see EVE come to this. ---------------------------
