i am glad to see that drones are smarter but i dont believe the have considered the fact that drones can be lost and as a main weapon on a ship were screwed up till thayt point i believe that apart fron gallente the drone race other ships shouldnt use drones at all and keep all the races to there on weapons on there own ships apart from mimiblah people where they can fit everything like missiles and such but have reduced output damage unless they fit there racial weapons onboard
then we would have this problem at all :P

Sadly i was also dissapointed, after reading some announcements i was also under the impression that ships with dronebays would have them enlarged.
Atm i have enough space for 5 light drones (25m3) so i can only use 5 lights anyways, if the dronebay was increased to 50m3 but my bandwith would remain at 25 (enough for 5 lights) that would be lovely, i could carry some nasty surprises in my dronebay as well as some T2 lights for whacking frigs

Yeah, that's what i thought about the arbi too.
Could get more variations in my drones, but keep the damage i want.
But now you can't do the old 2xheavy, 2xmedium, 1xlight anymore. That combo was ace in missions with variable rats.

My guess is that only ships like the EOS (with a ship level bonus to drone bay volume) will have a noticable difference when this is implimented. If a ship has a 50m drone bay now it may have a 75 m drone bay after the patch but only the bandwidth to fly 5 med drones as a max.
My best guess is that the eos (and any other ship that gets the drone bay volume bonus) will get some sort of bonus to bandwidth instead, so it will still have the ability to use drones which ordinairily would be above its class.

Ships like the myrmidon and vexor were too effective for their costs, and the eos was too effective for its role. Compared to say, hurricanes, ruptures, and claymores, those drone boats were out of line.
Beside all questions about balance, I find a bit absurd that most ships from the "drone race" have only the space for 1 flight of drones.
And increasing the probability of drone loss without decreasing the price is again very strange.
Every time a drone is lost the pilot lose the equivalent in isk of a weapon of the supposedly equivalent size and the same tech level, while he don't get a performance similar to a weapon of that size and tech level.

Between bandwidth not delivering what was hoped and the scoop nerf there are going to be real troubles for any ship that has the same bandwidth as it has dronebay and is balanced with the DPS from it's drones calculated in.
Prime examples in the battleship class would be the geddon and megathron. With enemy mediums or lights on their heavies or sentries they're going to lose a large chunk of their damage potential very quickly.

It seem logic, the space for at least 1 replacement wing 1 size smaller that the primary for all ships, i.e. Meghatron bandwidth 125, drone bay size 125+50 (another 5 drones 1 size smaller); Raven bandwidth 75, drone size bay 75+35 (2 large 2 medium 1 small primary, 2 medium 3 small secondary) or some similar value.
Then the ships using drones as the primary weapon should get at least 2 full wing at maximum bandwidth, more it they are intended, like the Amarr, to be a endurance fighter or they will depend on specialized models of drones.
