I just downloaded the trial; I can't even seem to be able to finish 1/4 of the tutorial before Eve freezes up.
From login up to just before the freeze there's several random rapidly flashing triangular patterns all over the screen and certain textures are stretched and zoom off the screen... No matter the in/out game graphic settings I get the same result.
Any ideas what is going wrong here and how to fix it?!
Specs:
I have a 32-bit Vista Ultimate OS
ATI Mobility X1800 256MB Card
DirectX 10
2 x JP210/Y9530 SAMSUNG 1GB DDR2 PC5300 SO-DIMM
Intel Core 2 T7400 2.16GHz

That video card seems a little on the weak side to be running Vista....

The flashing patterns is usually indicative of a problem with the graphics card either faulty or overheating. The current client is very cpu intensive so heat can be an issue with laptops.

Overheating or faulty graphic card... really? I still have a warranty on the laptop in effect. Guess I'll see what they will cover for me.
Any other suggestions? Thanks!

I very much doubt that the problem is overheating. There is a known bug that is affecting ATI cards since the last patch. There's another thread on the forum about it. You had better get used to it, EVE is the most buggy game I have ever encountered. With every patch they break as many things as they fix. Even so, it's still a good game...

Must have missed that thread but since I've not had any graphical issuse with any of my ATI cards since the last patch, I haven't had a reason to look.
