....all these tearful confessions that "after half my life with EVE I'm quitting." I can't think of anything I'm less interested in unless it's my exhusband's ... (let's not go that way.)
FROM NOW ON, if you plan to quit AND, you don't intend to raffle off, or give away all your STUFF, don't bother posting your imminent departure. We really don't care. (That's the royal "we".)

in other MMO's stupid people are annoying. In EVE they are a valuable resource

I have been weak before the eyes of CCP, I deserve every lashing that lands on me.
Morale is rising.
So glad after CCP learned that the "harden the F up" line was hurting morale, they switched to using whips on everyone.
Threads like this generally result in anything positive.

It was the pre-Incarna motto. They forgot it for a while, then lived by it with Crucible. I say that and I like what I see of WiS (NeX aside) so far, but Crucible is a better release by a long ways than Incarna. |

Going back to the OP, if the game company actually takes the stance of 'who cares why they're leaving', that's when you can't retrieve your game from oblivion. Think Age of Conan, or Masters of Orion 3, or even Call to Power 2 (Civilization series). The producing company just didn't seem to care about the problems, and thus condemned a potentially long lived franchise.
In the case of EVE Online, it almost went that way this summer. But fortunately, the damage seems to have been stopped, a new course taken partially because of players explaining why they were unhappy and leaving. (Partially because they were backing their words with action and unsubbing, but without the sad words, CCP might not have had a good idea of what new direction to take in order to stay alive.)
Think of a marriage or any long term relationship. If one partner is unhappy but refuses to communicate, then it's much less likely that any healing or correction can happen. Or if you're unhappy with your kid or employee's behavior, but won't say what, then how are they supposed to know what to change?
Communication is better than silence if change is wanted. (Or in some cases, survival of something might depend on it) |

Now that CCP has recognized the importance of a stable community apathy towards their player base has disappeared in favor of a newer "Aggressive" strategy.
