I saw the advert for this in the Cinema today. Was wondering what its going to be like, I was thinking its one of those all American disaster movie and that only they can fix the world. I though nah... Hollywood's not like, then the next image over was a destroyed Statue of Liberty (with no head) and the title just as 2008.
Does anyone know any more about that?

Quote: My lukewarm reaction to the film appears to be in the minority, for ID4 has already grossed a truly astounding $95 million in its first 5 1/2 days
YES, let's all listen to the 20 year old kid who was deemed the best nitpicker in California!
I give it 2 thumbs up.
He talks about a lack of action because there were only 2 fight scenes but I guess he missed out on the building a plot and climax and explaining in the middle. You want action, watch Chronicles of Rid****. Two spoken sentences, action, two spoken sentences, action.
I'll give him credit on the love scenes however. They were kinda overplayed.
Then he goes on about the trailertrash family and their lack of involvement in the movie or as he put, 'like they came from another movie'. Except that they're kind of the punchline at the end (somebody had to fly a jet into the spaceship).
Oh and he takes a jab at stargate too. Yaknow that movie that turned into a 10 season tv show with a offspring that's already in what, it's 5th season?
Come on. If your gonna bring in critics atleast do somebody with some creditials, like those guys that are always giving a thumb up something.
EDIT: Oh yeah, I am Legend looks cool.

Roland Emmerich somewhere stated that ID4 was actually going to be a Stargate movie sequel, but they then changed it. Luckily, because its given 10 years of SG-1, 4 of Atlantis, and the new Stargate: Universe spin off.

I thought 28 Weeks Later was already out I stopped being interested when I saw Will Smith was in it for obvious reasons.

1) yeah, invincible aliens... let's punch em in the face and carry em through the whole frigging desert
2) i know that the aliens ship shield (in area52) will reflect the bullet, so lets just have a random guy shoot at the shield to prove my point, and pray no1 gets killed by the lose bullet
3) uh yeah! let's just fly into the mothership, install windows 95 in their CPU and get out. sounds easy. such an advanced alien race cannot track us and find out our plan.
mars attack >>> independence day
In case you missed it, it was a Science FICTION movie. At least the Humans had a plan. In War of the Worlds, the Humans didn't win. Besides - Windows 95 will break anything, even toaster ovens. If Admiral Adama uploaded Windows 95 into his ship - the Cylons would all be dead by now. |
