EVE is exactly the type of game I'd love to play. However, due to the insanely small font size, and small size of the items on the interface, I won't be playing beyond the 10 minutes or so it took me to find out this wasn't going to be pleasant.
Developers, here's a hint -- not everyone who wants to play your game is 22 years old with perfect eyesight. I'm an old broad with lots of other games under my belt. The last thing I want is to have to squint at the screen. The graphics are stunning, but at a beautiful hi res, everything else is unreadable and therefore unplayable.
From browsing the forums I see there have been complaints about this since 2004. The fact that the devs haven't addressed it demonstrates that it's not an important issue for them. That also makes me want to take my money elsewhere. So I shall.
Thing is, I doubt I'm the only person who finds this to be a showstopper. I wonder how much money you're losing because of this?

I adjusted everything there was to adjust, including the font width and size, as much as is allowed. I have a good crisp monitor, and the graphics look fantastic. But there's no other way to increase the size of the interface elements, especially the text. I wish game developers would realize that their audience is more than a bunch of teenagers and young adults with excellent vision.
The more time we spend in front of a computer screen, the worse our eyesight gets. You may laugh at me now, but when you're 40 and you can't read anything, you'll realize how frustrating this is.

Just a suggestion, invest in some glasses...they help, but changing the resolution in the options menu very well makes everything nice and large.

Sorry but that doesn't solve the problem. Anyone who wears glasses knows that wearing them infront of the computer screen for any length of time can leave you with very sore eyes.
It's an absolute travesty and CCP really dropped the ball on this one. How hard is it to add the ability to have the entier UIs font scale change? Every other game does it. CCP just wasn't thinking about their users.
Instead the only options are "invest in some glasses" (which is a somewhat ignorant comment I feel) and suffer with sore eyes, or don't play the game. Bad design.

Nobody is forcing you to play at high resolutions.

At 1024 x 768 the text is so small I have to squint or sit 3 inches from the screen to read it. Forget higher resolutions, the text becomes so small as to be impossible to see.
Maybe y'all ought to realize that anyone who wears glasses has a hard time seeing this interface. Plain and simple. There have been numerous forums posts on this issue, with no acceptable resolution.
The real point is that the developers DON'T CARE to change it, or even offer options. The game industry needs to grow up. It's all about the users, people. If you want to cut out a hefty (and wealthy) market because you don't think the interface is important, that's fine. We'll gladly put that revenue into someone else's game.

Stun, you will be very happy. There is a new type of eyeglass grinding method made ESPECIALLY FOR COMPUTER USE. No more 800x600 games!! So back to your Optimitrist and get a new prescription.
Here is a nice link explaining the issue:
"All About" - All about Computer Glasses for Blurred Vision
Once I did this, I found EVE allot more playable. Seriously.
That Said, I agree that the ux needs bigger fonts. the Font button in chat helps with chat but allot of the ux remains unreadable beyond 1280x768 for me -- so I play at that depth to read velocity etc.

The problem there is that means I have to BUY a new pair of glasses just for playing EVE, as it's the ONLY game (it seems) which doesn't allow the user to change the font size. That's backwards thinking.
What makes more sense? Everyone who wears glasses pays HUNDREDS of dollars on specially made glasses to read fonts that will STILL be too small? Or CCP gets their act together and puts a BASIC functionality in the game to make so many users happy (I've seen tons of complaints about the font size)?
A designer who says "buy special glasses" rather than adding functionality is a bad designer. I mean come on, it's not like it's some advanced or new technology. Any web brower, word processor, or 99.99% of any other programs with text in them can do it. Is CCP telling me they can't?

What I completely don't understand is why the developers continue to ignore this issue. The number of posts on font size is lengthy: complaints about font size and there has been no movement on this from CCP at all. I guess they figure the General option to change text width by micrometers does the job. It doesn't even come close.
Worse than the interface flaw, which is dead easy to fix if you have the will to do so, is the attitude of "like it or leave it". Thanks, I'll leave it. Maybe this is the difference between a game that has 30,000 players and one that has 3 million players.

I'm 21 with 20/20 eyesight and I'd LOVE some bigger fonts. 13.3" laptop monitor running at 1280x800. I usually walk away from the screen when I'm on autopilot to save the eyes.
