Enyo, especially after drone bandwidth nerfs the Ishkur. Right now, it's probably even.

whats the nerf all about? will it totally destroy the ishkur?
also, enyo>taranis? for 0.0

Right now I'd say the ishkur takes the price, with no competition.
With the bandwidth nerfs... I guess they will be pretty tie, or perhaps the Enyo will claim the price.

For Guristas and Serpentis, the Ishkur is better, even post-nerf, due to the ability to quickly wipe out smaller ships with the quicker drones.
The Enyo is better if you need to add resist mods against non kin/therm enemies, i.e. Angels. And the massive blaster DPS helps ...

I've used an ishkur and a taranis to rat in Providence, and the choice is definitely the taranis. I couldn't get into range fast enough in the ishkur, and the dps wasn't good enough to break bs tanks with drones only.
The taranis worked very well, assuming I could get orbiting the BS, and keep away from hitting the asteroids.
Ishkur was too big, too slow in my experience

did you use ion II's on your ishkur? were the drones T2?

i ratted with an ishkur and enyo, and went back to a blaster thorax - cheap, fast, more gank and just enough tank - set drones on frigs/cruisers and blaster away the battleships

i'll keep that mind, thanks. im just thinkin ud get locked down and blown up by a player rat before you could even align. because i do wanna work on drones, i think i'll go the ishkur route and if that fails --> thorax

ratting 0.0 battleships in a frigate is never really fast or profitable, you have to do the extremely low bounty ones and even then its pretty slow.
tbo with an insured mega you loose almost nothing if the ship dies to player pirates and you will be able to handle any and all spawns.
If that is still too much for you it shouldnt take more then 1 week to get into a basic skilled drake and another week to be able to use it competently, with a complete base tech 1 setup you can easily tank any 0.0 spawns and kill with some speed all but a few.
another alternative is depending on your drone skills you can rat in a domi, which when insured you will only be loosing 10 mil maybe if you buy it at empire prices and it has the advantage of having a limitless ammo resource so you can rat non stop for two weeks without needing to resupply, especially if you are not in the drone regions as then you only need to loot the faction spawns you get.
long story short, the only reason to rat in a frig is novelty value.

my thorax was actually pretty good at alignment ... i fled the second someone popped up in local and a few times managed to ran away on my mwd so in four months of ratting i only lost that rax to those damn ewar frig/battleship 0.0 spawns ... in ishkur and enyo i just remember my tank was holding much better but my firepower was greatly lacking, i would be killing a battleship and by the time i had it in structure another one would spawn so i didn't even have to leave a belt ratting was kind of much more boring in afs, that's why i switched back to rax
however if you want to travel to and from 0.0 often and go deep the inties are better for surviving, but they have even less firepower than an af or cruiser ... i remember spending close to 10 minutes working with an inty on a battleship while the rax took about 2-3

thank you for the suggestions... i guess it's best for me to test a few ships out on my own. due to costs, i will stay away from the mega for now.

If you're really that worried about being ganked then just use a nano-ishtar. Warp to belt at 50 or so, start orbitting at stupid speeds, you outrun even the npc inties(pop them first anyways).
Hell, you can do it in a pvp setup, just make sure you use the cap battery variant instead of the injector variant.

Fitting one Inertia stabs II on a thorax makes it better at aligning than the Ishkur. Assault frigate are really bad at aligning and speed, they are too heavy. My vote goes for the rax.

I go ratting in providence every once in a while in my Ishkur just for fun. It has no trouble tanking, and does plenty of dps to bring down the rats in a reasonable amount of time. The drones let you take out the frigs quickly and at range while the blasters make short work of cruisers and bs.
Still, my preferred ratting ship is the myrmidon since it isn't THAT slow and brings down the bs a lot faster. With a rack of 200mm railguns with antimatter and 5 t2 med drones, it dishes out plenty of dps to any size ship.
Given the choice between a rax and an ishkur though, I'd say go with the rax. With medium blasters it's going to kill the bs faster than the ishkur will, and with insurance, it's cheaper to replace.
