Anyone else having a problem with lasers not showing up after the first volley? With HDR enabled it seems to come and go, though if I switch to AA, they are constant? Anyone know of a solution to this problem?

I remember this being a problem two nights ago without the new art content. I was watching a fight between a scorp and abaddon, and only saw two volleys from the abaddon's lasers in 7 minutes of fighting, yet i know it was firing the whole time because the scorp only won by about 10% structure.
Still downloading the new graphics myself, but i'm not sure what the "Download Throttle" option does - any ideas? I'm only 3.9% done after 30 mins.

QFT. Why does it need the spikes anyway? It has those wonderfully chunky 'bumpers' at the front.

the downloading procedure for the patch was ok, sometimes my bandwith break a bit down, specially at the end of the file (~90%).
the installing and restarting have worked without problems.
the FPS is in space and in spacestations are ok, i play on 1152, using a ATI radeon x1800GTO.
i dont use HDR, i have enabled anti-aliasing, but it looks like in 32bit mode the game dont take over the settings for the anti-aliasing interval.. this lets look the game like tetris.
i switchted over the GFX-menu to the 16bit mode, the environment looking now much more smoother and slicker, but it seems the anti-aliasing will not fully applied, some smaller details on ships are just a bit unsharp, flashing and having the typical "jaggies".
aah: CCP please add a "save screenshot as .PNG option" ;)

There's a huge performance hit when multiple ships are on the screen - At least, more than you would expect to. I didn't expect to go from 80-100 fps when looking at my ship to 1-5 fps when looking at my ship and a couple of others, especially if there's no visual cue as to why the fps drops so much when turning the camera around.

Could someone get some screenshots of HDR on and off? If HDR is going to be a problem with AA, I'd like to see if HDR is actually making any significant difference in the first place. Love to but my test client just died with these log in time to change settings 
Best thing to do is turn bloom to high at a sun, then do the same with aa. Imo bloom is better than aa with all the lights in eve it obscures the edges without the performance hit of aa. Try aa in a 100 man fight with your card applying it to 100 ships, all the drones, wrecks .
The original far cry with the 1.4 patch is a clean easy way to make comparisons between hdr and aa if you have it. But really what do you want? To nit pick with about rough edges ina world as dark as eve, where most of the time you're too far zoomed out to notice? Or to see you're foes burn in the depths of space (blind you if you see it head on ) however i admit it may make pew pew at suns harder, it's more involving

Yeah I thought this too. In station or on my own I get 130-150fps. Looking at 10-15 ships drags me down to 15-25 fps. Thats at 1440x900 and 4xAA, 8XAF on an 8800GT.
Plus the LOD scaling doesn't seem to work very well, I still get a big performace hit from a crowded scene even when fully zoomed out so nothing is actually visible on my monitor.
My final issue is with the rendered ship icons, they are too low res and too poorly lit to be able to distinguish between the many variations of the same hull. For example: http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/2185/20071127205657tn0.jpg

I'm sad for the fact that the little moving parts on some ships are completely gone with the remodel. The flapping nose wings on the huginn, the spinning middle of the prowler, the eos's under nose cone thing. It was small details like the above that made some ships ♥, and now they are substantially less ♥.

Noticed 3 things that are graphic bugs but they also stand out enough that I'm sure they'll get caught.
1. Sabre rear fins are missing one of their textures (the opposite view makes the fin invisible) 2. The Buzzard has no off switch for its thrusters when parked in the station  3. While in space, changing camera angles, background objects don't match with the nebula skybox. For example, if you undock and rotate the camera around your ship, you'll notice that the station moves unnaturally in relation to the background...the same happens to any object including the sun flare (which seems to detatch from the light point itself). I noticed this mostly in widescreen view, so it might be just isolated to that.

A couple things...
1. The default view looking at your ship once you dock points the camera through the stream of a spotlight in most of the Caldari stations I've been to so far. Any chance of changing the angle of the camera, the ship, or the spotlights?
2. I'm having trouble getting the engine trails to turn off once I turned them on. Before that, I had no engine glow or trails at all from any ships, and now I can't lose the trails. I prefer seeing engine exhaust/glow from ships, but not the long trails. I'm running Vista 64-bit with dual 8000-series Nvidia cards.

My box: E6600 @3.4 8800 GTS 320mb @600, 880 2Gb ram
My testing: I dropped every old BS, tech 2 ship and tier 2 BC in one spot in space (carrier hauling) to get me to around 80 ship i guess... Token carrier/dread, pair of haulers and barge set included. I began to change settings in graphics to see what helped and what hurt FPS.
With my blob and my initial settings i was getting 20 FPS with Sisi and TQ running, 33 with just Sisi. I was running Quality-High, Shadows-Extreme, HDR-on, Bloom-High, Interval-Immediate at the time. Not bad for starters, so i figured i could drop some shadows and get more FPS. Or something.
Quality-High, Shadows-High, HDR-on, Bloom-High, Interval-Immediate, I got artifacts. Quality-High, Shadows-Normal, HDR-on, Bloom-High, Interval-Immediate, my FPS hit rock bottom, barely getting 4-5.
Quality-High, Shadows-Normal, HDR-off, Interval-Immediate, I got artifacts. Quality-High, Shadows-High, HDR-off, Interval-Immediate, my FPS again tanked, 4-5 as before. Quality-High, Shadows-Extreme, HDR-off, Interval-Immediate, FPS got up to around 20 with Sisi and TQ running (same as with HDR on).
Quality-High, Shadows-Extreme, HDR-on, Bloom-Low, Interval-Immediate, FPS up a bit, 20-25 instead of just around 20. Quality-High, Shadows-Extreme, HDR-on, Bloom-Medium, Interval-Immediate, didn't notice any change from previous, graphics or FPS wise. Quality-High, Shadows-Extreme, HDR-on, Bloom-High, Interval-Immediate, back to around 20 FPS. Quality-High, Shadows-Extreme, HDR-on, Bloom-Medium, Interval-Immediate, again, it seems medium doesn't actually change anything, FPS and appearance now as if it was still High.
Based on this, i recommend running Quality-High, Shadows-Extreme, HDR-on, Bloom-Low, Interval-Immediate. Getting 25 FPs with 2 clients and 80 ships up close (5km bubble about) isn't bad at all with my box i think.

Hmmm... I realize that it is the model for but one station, but it should be known that the CONCORD Bureau at Yulai IX is invisible. Either: A. the model is missing from the package, unintentionally B. the model is not ready C. they have the biggest mother-frakking cloak Eve has ever seen.
Oh, if it is option "C" I want one...

Has anyone else had the issue that the game crashes when you try to undock?
My only disappointment from what i've seen of the new graphics upgrade so far (aside from the crashing lol) is that the Stabber and Vagabond don't look as good anymore. 
The Rapier and Huginn however are insane!

Ok... now i'm really confused. I logged off my chars, logged on another in FD-MLJ with these same settings (getting 25 fps with some 80 unique models on screen) and undock in FD-... my FPS crash. I get me a clean window and make warp to FF1, thinking it may be the station, and it doesn't help any. I change to Quality-High, Shadows-Normal, HDR-off, Interval-Immediate, and its fine, high FPS all over, no artifacts. I log off and log in the char who did artifact with the 80 ship blob and its fine too, FPS is high. I try my old settings that worked so well before (Quality-High, Shadows-Extreme, HDR-on, Bloom-Low, Interval-Immediate) with the blob and i get 3-4 FPS... wtf. Settings are random at best it seems.
The only real difference between these 2 tests that i can think of is that the first time i tested i had TQ logged in before i started anything on Sisi, for the short time i had TQ off i didn't log out of Sisi or change settings... But my clients should be separate, as they have /LUA:OFF on both so cache isnt shared.

I'll repeat what I said on SHC - I think the red themed t2 Caldari ships look silly. The red just looks like it has been spraypainted on by some kid so his ship would look all elite. There's no rhyme or reason to it. Contrast this with the other races where it seems to be more that the colors revolve around differently colored windows or hull plating.
Look especially at the rook's right side.
Why would Caldari ship builders all decide to spray paint their ships red?
