Several corp/alliance members have finished downloading the client and pretty much all of them unequivocally said the new models were 'messy', and upon opening some of the screenshots posted here it becomes obvious. There's a huge gap in the quality between the screenshots being posted, and displayed and the ones used in the promotions/trailers/screenshots subections so it begs the question are the shaders missing?

Some of the textures just don't seem "sharp" enough, and the lights on the station are a bit bright, so that when you zoom out they look a bit odd. waiting to log back on with my SLI turned on to see what that does. ------------------------------------------- THE CAKE IS A LIE |

Why do you EVEN need a SLI to run this game? Useless, and what a waste.

Coloring appears quite dull. I'm surprised its not more vibrant. The actual models appear incredibly detailed though.

Maybe I'm missing something, but those models look pretty great to me....
Also, on the coloring.... these are military ships for the most part. I would expect "dull" colors. When's the last time you saw a "vibrant" warship? ------------------------------------------

Never. Although I'm still waiting for the new Real World graphic engine to be released. You can bet I'll address this issue when it is available for testing though

Look at the Drake. It's actually uglier than before. The shader is horrible and there seems to be a lack of detail. Bantam also looks like they didn't add any polygons to it, still looks horrible. I was also very disappointed with Rokh... one of the coolest ships currently doesn't look any better in Trinity. Oh and Chimera is completely fukked.. there's some very weird shading problem in it.

The drake looks worse (as does the Myrmidon) in than it does in the current engine. I wondered if it was even finished when I saw it. The same could be said for the Rokh. Some ships look really cool and others still look very much 'work in progress'.

All the Tier 2 BCs and Tier 3 BS look like this. It's as if those sets of ships didn't have the same spec maps and shaders applied to them as the rest of the remodeled/textured ships. Frankly I think that all of the 'old' ship models (everything but the new BCs and BSs) got the new texture treatment, and the newer textures on the newer ships were left alone as 'good enough', and therefore look different.

i have to agree... most of the screenshots i saw very just ugly and i was wondering how it will look. but tbh, on my computer, with external AA activated it looks really really good. so dont rely on screenshots. ___________

I think CCP didn¦t want to spend manpower to improve ships that were introduced since RMR. As far as I¦ve seen all this ships suck more or less with the new engine, especially the Abaddon. It¦s a shame so much work was put into the Minmatar Shuttle, that looks really cool, but none into ships that are only 1 or 2 years old.

Op if you wana prove your point post the maelstrom. I agree that the new hurricane has issues, but actually, that pic is the best looking one ive seen... it looks so much worse when you have it in station and are rotating around.
Also, so everyoneis aware, the ships arent very impressive in the station. take them outside and let the lighting hit them. Makes a difference.
Textures do need to be sharper... but I would prefer sharper performance righ tnow over visiual improvements. Right now, undocking from a station is painful, even if you are the only one around.
My Spec: 7800 GTX Intel Core 2 Quad 2 gig high speed ram 2x Raptors Raid 0
Everyhting is fine except 1.) undocking from a station is awful, i cant imagine what undocking in jita will be like. 2. Launching drones is now the lag out button.
I believe this has something to do with lod. Zooming out really really really far solves problems... shadows probably arent being dropped at the right time or something. Either way, my setup should be tearing throught his game quite easily and frankly, its not.
(1650 x 1080, 4x AF, 2x AA, Normal Shadows, No HDR, no Bloom.)

Never mind that 90% of the player base will cry like babies again when their fps drops to unplayable levels in medium sized engagements.
Textures are fine if you just don't zoom all the way in. ______________________

most of the minmatar ships on sisi look completly unfinished to me and are in no way an graphical improvement to what they look like on the "old" engine. in fakt they do look much worse. same with the models, the "new" vagabond looks like the stabber looks now. all in all the mini ships lost their scrapeyard style and look a like as if imported from legoland into a spaceship game.
