Originally by: SomeHardLovin If you install on a computer that doesnt support the premium content it defaults to Classic. My ATI X850 sadly doesnt support Shader 3.. so no new content for me.. which sucks. I would be nice to choose to run it with Shader 2 and more detailed models. *whine*
Ive got the ATI X850 XT and am therefore in the same boat. What I dont understand is that Ive had a look around at a number of specialist forums that have graphics card rankings and they all say that these 850s are superior to the ATI X1300 meantioned in the minimum requirements (apparently also better than the x1600 meantioned in the first post).
Having downloaded the premium pack and the newest card drivers, content that my PC should have been able to run it, Im a bit annoyed to find that this particular card isnt compatable with Shader 3. Perhaps, as lovin' suggested, the addition of a Shader 2 option would keep us happy, but letting us know that this particular card series isnt covered might be a nice to know in advance.

I'm running a Dell E1705 with NVidia GeForce 7800 GO graphics. The new "classic" content runs great ... as it always has even before the trinity patch ... even at the 1920x1200 native resolution of my screen I get around 60fps in space.
The "premium" graphics however are sloooooooooow. They load, and they sure look better, but my FPS drops into the teens and sometimes single digits. I only have 1GB of RAM right now. I want another Gig of memory but I have the feeling that it's not going to help the graphics out. It runs "better" if I lower the resolution but then it looks extremely fuzzy.
So until I can afford to build a nice desktop, I've reverted back to the "classic" graphics.

I have made sure that antialiasing has been turned off but i just don't understand what is wrong, can anyone help?
Im having the same problem, spikes going through my ships, stripes in space and flickering. After awhile the game will freeze or crash, even got a blue screen. I updated drivers and did a fresh install, still crap. I got a Ge-Force 7900 GS, I think its EvE thats screwed up.
Sounds like graphics card overheating to me, the spikes and stripes are known as Artefacts.. Check the GPU temps.

It will delete your boot.ini file and prevent your computer from starting up.... just like it will for everyone else.
J/K they fixed that =)

Here's a weird one. Updated DirectX and drivers and all that, game loads fine, but when I click anywhere, the game crashes. Old graphics run hunky-dory. Here's what I'm running.

My dl worked great also until i undocked. Station was white ships were white then BAM! Crash to desktop. Decided to update my video driver... which requires a reboot. Lost a boot.ini file and couldnt recover. Reformat ftl. Note to self, never patch again. Classic to premiere graphics patch killed my dell. Full version installing now. Dont devs test these things first?

I'm getting this same problem! I'm still using a trial account (I'm still not sure if I want to pay for the full account) and I thought I was very lucky to be able to witness the old and the new graphics.
But now I just want to trash my laptop! The game loads just right but when I move my camera it crashes to desktop... =/
I'm runing the game on a ASUS A6Tc (AMD Turion 64x2, 1Gb RAM and Geforce 7300 with dedicated 256mb) laptop with updated drivers and all windows (XP Home) updates.
Isn't there any way for me to fix this and continue to use my trial? Only 10 days left... =(
Just a little off-topic question: I've been playing WoW so far but had to quite since I don't have time for all the nonsensical grind that just burns my time... Will there be any change of that in EVE or is it the same grind-fest? I heard this game has little grind and focus a lot on PVP. Is it true?

Sounds like a fire wall issue as your not seeing the server, im assuming your internet is working as you posted so check that port 26000 is open for your machine

Dell Inspiron laptop (Intel Dual core with ATI Radeon Mobility x1400)
The game loads, but there is a severe graphics glitch on rendering the skins on the polygons. The objects flicker, you can see through the polygons where they are not skinned. The skins on the polygons get rendered in what looks like a cyclic pattern (looks like hundreds per second) but the polygons don't "keep" their skin, they go transparent immediately.
Classic content runs ok - previous versions of EvE run ok.

Nope I can not run this so called upgrade.
Apparently it requires an up to date computer system.
So all I can say is thank you Eve support; for letting us down. Hopefully in the distant future I may get a big fat check I can afford to play the preminum version without fail.
I have a dell laptop with a ati mobility video card from 2004. It gets the job done.
Again thank you Eve team for such a lovely upgrade. It is a shame a good number of us cannot afford it...
At least I can play the classic version.

Mostly works for me, except for corrupted graphics on some item icons.
Only a few of them are affected, so I suspect some undetected data corruption in the download rather than an driver problem (does CCP have no CRCs on their files?). Bug report is submitted.
My System is an AMD Athlon 4800+ (dual core) w/ 2GByte RAM and NVIDIA 8600 GT by the way, on Win 2000. Task manager shows 684 MByte used by EVE, so I can see how people with not much RAM might have a problem.

I don't want to nag, but how long you think it'll take them to fix this? 'Cause my trial will expire in just about a week and I can't play a thing... Then I'll have to make a new trial account and if I decide to upgrade my account I'll loose the account name... =/
At least extending a couple of days to the trial of the people affected by this bug...
Pretty please?

I'm already starting to feel better having read the problems others are having. This is my first big patch and I havent managed to undock my ship yet cause I get a black screen when I do! Luckily the station I am at sells skill books, and I have just enough time to change a skill before the black screen hits.
My question to experienced victims of the game... how long do I have to keep paying for this crap before, 'typically' we get something back that is worth playing?

All the system-requirements are met. I was so exited. Oh no, only X1050. Pitty, here you go. Love to complain about it. Your standards are imho to high. I know, shows nice, but your struggle for the highest quality makes me a victim. Thnx CCP. So, now i have to wait for the next generation computer that i buy. Only classical for me now. But hey! Do I pay to be watered off?

EDIT: Whoops, not quite. Was able to rotate around while docked after the reinstall, soon as I undock, ship goes white and the same crash happens when trying to do any camera work. Good to see I'm not the only one with the problem though - hopefully it's persistent enough to get a fix.
again, me too mate. Full reinstall, drivers all reinstalled etc etc etc. Not running for me still, back to the normal version though it should be oke for me. I meet the recuirements, just..but still a no go.

It would appear that I am bugged.
I can get on the server just fine, and Ive got to say that the new models are very well done. The Ares and Taranis in particular, wow, are those awesome.
However, When boarding my ships, they always have a few modules offline. When I rightclick them, I can click on 'put online' (indicating that its not a display error). I click it, but nothing happens. The PG and CPU use doesnt change, and it still shows as red.
If I try a strip-fitting on my ship, it doesnt update - the modules are removed, but the charges are jammed. On the Ares, I still have 4 highslots apparantly. PG / CPU use is the same as before I stripped my ship for fittings.
If I undock, everything is loaded fine it seems. Not excessive lag or long undocking time here - but if I as much as think of zooming, my screen goes black and the whole thing crashes.
Dont stress yourselves though, I've got plenty of time (honest). Please let me know if you need me to provide any system specifics (for the pimps to laugh at ) / logs / screenshots so I can aid you to my fullest.
Again, awesome skins. Dont like the caldari skins, though. The lines which show different parts etc are much too visible IMO, but my Minmatar and Gallente ships are awesome. Fukken awesome. I dont fly much Amarr, but from just my Crusader Ive got to say that you are tempting me! ----------
