Before everyone start downloading the new trinity client ( released soon ) we suggest you do the following before doing so.
Update your drivers and install the latest update for DirectX Here are links for you guys to use for your hardware.
Graphic Cards: nVidia ATI
DirectX and Windows: DirectX web installer DirectX End User Runtime ( if the web installer reports everything updated when it isn't ) WindowsUpdate ( fixes a lot of issues for players in many cases )
Soundcards: Soundblaster Realtek SoundMax M-Audio ( Formerly Midiman ) C-Media Hercules nForce
Chipset drivers: SiS Via nForce
After updating your drivers you can run the following utility that detects if your graphics card can indeed run the Premium client
Shader Model 3 checker
Do note that even if you can run the Premium client the rest of your hardware could not be up to the task. Even though the graphics card is the primary hardware here the rest of your hardware needs to be powerful as well. You may suffer hickups which will require you to tone down your graphical settings, the classic client will always be an option for you if you feel the Premium client isn't running as you hoped.
The premium client is now available on SiSi so you can test it out before release.

Can I suggest that people make a system restore point before downloading and installing any new drivers and software. This gives you a sporting chance of getting your computer up and running again if it all goes to XXXX and will save a lot of heartache. XP I think you will find it from START/PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/SYSTEM TOOLS/SYSTEM RESTORE
(cross posted I know, but think it's worth it) Post with your Alt and not your Main, 'cos I don't care about your Name. |

I'm on Asus Z96S laptop with T7300 @ 2x2Ghz ; 2GB RAM (667) and 8600GS 256MB+256MB card... I have problem loading the client. When the splash screens ends, EVE just stays on the tab bellow and doesn't open. What I mean is, it's working and taking up CPU (excacly 50%) but will not pop up large when I click on it, at the tab. I have also tried using "swich to" or "bring to front" from task manager. It worked before the 50MB patch and works grate on my desktop PC with the new patch (Q6600 @ 4x3.15Ghz ; 4GB RAM (800) and 7950GT 512BM).
What's wrong, what am I missing? Halp! please.

Got a GeForce 8600GT here, but I keep getting a version error when I try to upgrade to the premium version.
I can run the classic version fine. Anyone have any ideas on how and why this is happening? I've downloaded the premium content 5 times now and keep getting an error when I try to install it - only getting the specific message when I try to run it from windows explorer.

Tried everything in that thread and no joy. Before the last very small patch everything was running fine on the test server, following that update eve.exe disappears from the active tasks following the splash screen just leaving the eve tab on the task bar bottom of screen.

New content installed and running (8800gtx) All new content settings maxed and getting a stable 30FPS running @ 1360x768. Jumps to over 60FPS running @ 1920x1080 but the 8 series is known for running better at higher resolutions
One thing I did notice is after logging out of the test server and booting my normal client up, the "new content" had corrupted this characters files!!
Had to delete all the files from local settings and everything went smooth.. until i re-logged onto TQ!! And it did the same thing again
Just be aware of this if you upload the new gfx.

I spent $282 to get an AGP X1950 Pro and an AMD 4200+ X2 to run on this old 939 system. For the cost is gave new life to this computer, and should last me another year and half at least. A nice upgrade since I can't afford a complete new system right now. Installed the parts last night :) Suprised Windows didn't need a reinstall to use the new dual core, but it picked it right up!

I believe the newer Intel GPUs do support SM3 but they're very weak and steal system RAM. It could run, but it wouldn't be a good framerate.

If you install on a computer that doesnt support the premium content it defaults to Classic. My ATI X850 sadly doesnt support Shader 3.. so no new content for me.. which sucks. I would be nice to choose to run it with Shader 2 and more detailed models. *whine* ---

Im having the same problem, spikes going through my ships, stripes in space and flickering. After awhile the game will freeze or crash, even got a blue screen. I updated drivers and did a fresh install, still crap. I got a Ge-Force 7900 GS, I think its EvE thats screwed up.

Is that a dual core CPU in that laptop? If it is always exactly 50% it sounds like one of the cores is maxed out. In Task Manager go to View=> CPU History=> One graph per CPU. |

So does this mean that people with this problem will just not be abl to play with the premium content? Or does anyone know of a solution to this really annoying problem?
