Originally by: Andre Ricard Even I wouldn't mind seeing a new Emperor on the throne, so long as it isn't that lout of a son Doriam left behind. Is there any truth to those reports that - what are they called, the Preachers of Truth eventually came knocking on his door?
From what I heard, they did a great deal more to him than just knocking on the door...
Being Civire, the idea of there being no contact - formal or informal - from higher up the chain doesn't really seem that alien to me. Even the State's civilian arms work with a considerable degree of formal secrecy to insure against corporate espionage and suchlike.
It could just be that the Imperial Navy finally learned that keeping its collective mouth shut is a good idea. Loose lips lose ships, after all, and if they're planning a sudden, rapid raid into the Bleak Lands, then the last thing they want is for word to get out before they're perfectly poised to strike. It'd be a strategy at odds with the traditional Amarrian approach of marching on in there holding banners high and singing hymns, but not totally unheard of... - The game is not the problem. The problem is that you are not adapting to the game.

Edited by: Stitcher on 29/11/2007 15:31:40 You make it sound as if the entire Empire is in a constant state of low-grade civil war...
If the holders are truly as fractious a lot as you are suggesting, then it is honestly a small miracle that the Empire hasn't already broken up into a collection of feudal nation-states. - The game is not the problem. The problem is that you are not adapting to the game.

My point was that if the Empire really is as riddled with infighting and subtifuge as you are suggesting - subtle though it may be - then it is incredible that it's managed to survive as long as it has as a single entity, even with an Emperor present to serve as a linchpin.
It's been... what? Two years since his death? Coming up on three? If the internal fabric of the Empire is as threadbare as you're insinuating, then this Bleak Lands situation could be symptomatic of the Imperial tapestry starting to come unraveled.
From the perspective of an outsider at least, the chamberlain's smartest move at the moment would appear to be a show of strength to promote unity - and the Bleak Lands situation is a perfect opportunity to do just that which he is apparently wasting.
Having said that, I've become used to the more... blunt end of capsuleer frontier warfare, so my political skills are perhaps a little rusty by now. I'm certain there are layers of intricacy there that I'm not seeing. - The game is not the problem. The problem is that you are not adapting to the game.

Hmm... It appears I may have been correct in my assessment that the Navy was going to try for a quick and discreet insertion into the Bleak Lands.
As I said... not unheard of,but definitely unusual. Given how enormous the Navy's paper trail usually is, you can bet every pirate within fifty light years would have found out and skedaddled long before the fleet actually arrived, had they done things normally...
