When the summer lull in activity hit a lot of our guys got bored, or burned out, and moved back to null corps. Some discussions were had regarding the corp's future, tossing up options of merging into other corps who invited us, or continuing to try to make what was left work. Seems folks are giving up trying to make it work and we'll be dismantling the corporation this week.

Pretty sure I know where most pilots will be transferring to, but I'm not 100% sure I want to go there too.

Might be time to wind the pace back down and go back to doing my solo thing.

Schools are a business, they make money on the number of students, not on the number of successful students.

However, with that logic, there won't be much to start over from. To start over, we would still depend on the biosphere, oxygen, fresh water and land -- all that would be irradiated for years to come.

Still waiting for portrait update.

There's only a maximum amount of portraits that can be rendered in any given timeframe.

With Kronos and the NES, literally thousands of people must have bought clothes and tattoos
and thus also made new portraits.

When Kronos hit, it took a day for my portrait to update.


Since then, this situation is common.
Until CCP has to upgrade, because it takes too long for the portraits to update ...
... we can only wait.

on the way home from work last night, i saw a guy on a motorcycle. he looked completely miserable. like he was hating every single second of his life. which he probably was. because we were currently in the middle of a really nasty thunderstorm. and it was down-pouring like whoa. he was also in blue jeans. that had to suck ass. nothing worse in the world than soaked jeans. and he was seemingly unable to go more than maybe 30% of the total speed limit.

I'd say it's essential for everyone except maybe a extremely casual player. It can make a lot of stuff easier and the ability to be in multiple places at the same time can be a major headache reducer.

Which, imo, I think is weird. Where I come from in my forum administrative days everyone knew who the moderators were, and we also took and replied to private messages, along with support tickets and reports. It wouldn't be unusual for me to end up in some protracted debate with a user in PMs that would last days, so I can see why they try to avoid it here but meh.

When I started playing this game 6 years ago, you rarely ever heard about someone being suicide ganked. Every once in a while it would be done to an Industrial ship loaded with leet loot en-route to Jita. About the only action done against mining ships was to flip their cans which would open up PvP.

Then Hulkageddon started happening under the guise of attacking bots. Yeah right. The point is it showed how easy it was to do it and make ISK as well. After a while Hulkageddon then spawned the Ice Interdiction. Then after that it was gate camping Industrials in 0.5 systems en-route to Jita. Now it's basically just a free for all gankathon that now happens most anywhere in the game.

That was just a brief overview. Obviously there's other things that happened in-game, changes sponsored by Soundwave & Co, which helped encourage the amount of suicide ganking that happens in the game nowadays.

Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I still don't see anything in what you wrote to tell me that auto-piloting isn't worth the risk.

Yes there are gankers, you highlighted that along with the fact it exists and it happens. But the risk is negligible 9 times out of 10. Either that or my 20+ autopiloting characters have just been very lucky over the years.

Really it's a math game imo. I can't remember the last time I saw a 'nado gank squad camping a gate, and the last time I saw a fleet of catalysts was during "Burn Jita". I think it's generally much more targeted - people scout out and go after mission runners with super blingy battleships, or they're still chasing those leet loots that the occasional hauler carries. A single thrasher trying his luck on a gate is more common than anything to see (thus I never autopilot in a capsule anymore, granted) but there's little he can do against a hauler on his own, let alone something like a Proteus that's autopiloting (which btw is the genre of ship I'm usually flying when ap'ing).

Of course it failed.

I never graced it with my presence.

I have memory foam super duper ones for the head and a bunch of cheap Sears pillows because I have a tendency to move around a lot when I sleep usually invading personal space, so the pillows keep that habit from being super annoying. I've left bruises from my knuckles and elbows digging in, though I have no idea why the other person didn't just wake me up to stop me.
