Why I hate WoW?
Its a grind fest...again. You HAVE TO grind the same things to get levels.
Their is no risk involved. You die, so what? Maybe I'm an elitist but I like games that have risk as it makes the experience sooo much more tasteful. The closest thing to risk in WoW are larger raids that take some planning (usually from a hint website) and coordination (usually yelling at the noobie raiders for being noobs).
Graphics in WoW are kiddie cartoon like. Paint a dwarf pink and you have Hello Kitty online. I'd be embarrased to wear skins like that.
Sucky economy. Turnover on weapons and gear is pathetic. Early level weapons are either trashed or sold to noobie alts. Growth is stagnated and its alot tougher to be something of a merchant. I hate that with a passion.
Weapon uberness. I HATE how the epic weapons and higher are practically required to do higher level raids. What do you mean a steel sword wont dent such and such god/dragon/etc? T1 railguns aren't as good as T2 rails but they can still be very effective. I have T1 gear that is STILL combat effective. How much clutter does a WoW player have to get rid of as they level up? ALOT and I hate that.
Locked classes. Once again, I hate how you are stuck in classes that you chose at the beginning. Rogue, Paladin, Mage? I can BS snipe, EW *****, or fast tackle in a Merlin with all tech 1 fittings if I choose and its feels great. Even Star Wars Galaxies had a better class system (ok pre-NGE SWG). The thought of going back to a locked class instead of being several makes me shudder.
And finally, I hate WoW because they every fanboi that comes here says the same old tired arguement. "We have 8mill players, you only have a 300k." Of course they can't explain why WoW is such a good game. And I hate that.
Maybe I'm biased having played Everquest hardcore for several years. But then WoW is sooo much of an Everquest rip that I was actually able to help plan raids in WoW without ever having played the game in the beginning.
EvE is a niche community. We are elitists. We know that many other gamers prefer a candy coated escapism like WoW instead of the gritty feel of EvE. And we tend to resent those kinds of people. We dont have much sympathy for the whiners. We dont care much for fanboi's. We reward and applaud conquerors, dictators, theives, and murderers. Even our succussful carebears are more hardcore than many other gamer types.
