Now I don't actually mind the new gallente colours too much, apart from that the blue looks a bit woosy. But seeing as how many people dislike the new colours I grabbed one of the screens of the mega and made a few variations of the colour scheme.
Baby Blue (Just for comparison) Gallente Green Royal Blue Shuttle Orange (Because a few people mentioned it) Red Silver Black
If you've got any other colour ideas just post them here
btw I desaturated the ship a bit (so it looks more silver) because the gallente station tints everything greenish

I like the orange and the red the most. It would be cool if CCP made it so we could select our own ship color schemes either for self, corp, or alliance.

Well since greeing is reserved really for the t2 gallente ships id go with blue :)
I dont mind the unischeme at all i just dont want them pastel blue :(
Make it a nice dark blue and all is forgiven

red on the mega looks pretty good (but red is amarr color so nope)
royal blue looks good too. baby blue is ok imho, on mega is not that great but on other ships i kinda like it
what i really dont like is the green camo of some t2 ships :P

Edited by: Cadiz on 01/12/2007 05:16:09 Royal blue looks awesome, but the Megathron really looks the best out of the bunch because it looks more beaten and weather-worn than the rest of the t1 lineup, which all appear to be brand-spanking new and fresh off the assembly line. The Megathron, in comparison, with all the paint-scuffing, dents, scratches, and muted grey as opposed to shining silver, looks like it's been in nonstop hard fighting for several months on end. Definitely an appropriate look for the battleship that is one of the real workhorses of many 0.0 fleets.
The Dominix should be the real litmus test on whether you can make a colour look good, methinks. ------ Director, No Quarter "There is no problem that cannot be solved by the judicious application of violence." |

Gallente green and royal blue are much easier on the eyes , they fit the gallente ships' elegant look - but the mega deserves a full silver paint imo. Other gallente ships (myrm , hype , rax , brutix) could also use neutral silver instead of needlessly saturated cyan.

A little more darker Royal Blue will be an awesome color.
I still think Gallente ships are well known for having a wide scheme of colors, showing it to be a colorful race. So why not use ALL those colors on various ships?

I think they are trying to tie the ships in with the color code used for racial ecm's - thus cyan for Gallente.
This wouldnt look as bad if it was more subtly done.. and the main base color used was a MUCH darker shade of grey.. like it is on the moros/nyx/navitas. Then of course youve got the hyperion which has a far too light shade of grey altogether.
Odd how the art dept is trying to be consistant on one hand.. and then not doing so on the other.
It would also be nice if they got around to fixing the texture used for the 'windows' on some of the ships. the domi one is misaligned on the front, and the ishtars/vexors looks woefully low res and pixelated. Especially if you compare it to those on the zealot or astarte.
Other than that its all looking super. Nice work CCP.

Surprisingly I liked the Orange the most it just seemed more appropriate with the worn look to everythign else. The black is awesome but then again black and silver is allways a good combo. The royal blue is a good option though.

They did change the color on the Gallente Shuttle back to it's original orange. I remember either seeing it in game or in a screenshot with the blue, so maybe we can hope there are more changes to come. One thing I do like is those two strips down the side of the Brutix that are a much darker gunmetal sort of color. They should paint the whole ship that color because it would look fine with the blue. Another thing is that once I flew to a caldari station and tweaked my graphics settings (bright, gamma, RGB, contrast) the gallente ships all looked much more badass than before.

Maybe you should try looking at the ship out of the green light of a gallente station O_o Wierdly enough the gallente ships don't look that great in their own stations, but look more favorable in space or the yellow light of an amarr station.

No amount of lighting makes the baby blue actually look good. At best you can beat it into "slightly less puke-inducing". ------ Director, No Quarter "There is no problem that cannot be solved by the judicious application of violence." |

Damn the new colors simply look disgusting! You don't even have the choice to (for example) take a Thorax or Vexor... every f***ing ship has the same Color.
The only choice is Baby-blue or Baby-Violett.
If you don't solve this "problem" i'd rather take the old engine :((

The ships do look pretty good out in space but the choice of baby blue is yet another "WTF was CCP thinking?" mess.
Silver, Royal blue, Black and Green are all far better color choices.

I Agree 100% go back to green, I have noticed most of the tech 2 are green still, its like they want visual recon on the battle fields o look its a cyan guy...oo look a green guy kill him first...
Green is the color of the Gallente always has and always will be. CCP back to green thank you stop making up stuff.
I also agree with custom changes we should be able to change that color ourselves based on our own personality too many carbon copies floating around in space we could use some diversity in a major way.

I am putting myself in the state of mind of accepting the following (adapt or die): Myrmidon nerf: done the wrong way, should have been 2x less turrets, or 100 Mbit bandwidth ... well, there is still the Ishtar. EOS multi-nerf: way overdone, made ship quite useless, except for a command ship role nobody is interested in ... well, I can still fly the Astarte. Drone scoop nerf: illogical, what is the point of a "drone bay" if it cannot even recharge the damn buggers and perform basic maintenance? We could as well deploy drones from our cargo bay, then. Oh well, I will use less drone ships, and more blaster ones. Damps and TDs nerf: ECM will reign even more supreme = less variety in gang fights. Oh well, will reprocess all Celestis class ships and train for Falcon/Rook instead.
But, for the love of God: CCP, please give us the old Hyperion, Myrmidon and Brutix back. We like them DARK, we like those aquamarine blue porthole lights (that is all the blue/green reference to Gallente colors we need, honestly). Light grey + baby blue textures, in combination with washed out white portholes lights is a no-no. This is becoming a fleet of Hello Kitty's. The new textures are HORRIBLE, the resolution is actually lower than with the old models (check portholes in Brutix or Hyperion in Trinity at max settings, and now on TQ). With all due respect, how on earth can that be seen as "improving the quality of the ship models"? You have utterly ruined the few ship models that were already pretty good looking in the old engine. The new Celestis is one of the ugliest ships I have ever seen in any videogame. It is not like it was a beauty before, but you manage to make it look even worse. The Trinity preview models shown previously looked way darker, and way more detailed (similar as in the above comparison between Brutix models).
Some of the new Gallente models look great, like the new Mega and Thorax. However, only with the textures used for the Navy Mega/Vindicator and Deimos/Phobos/Vigilant, standard Mega and Thorax are way too light.
Cheers, Xeno

I feel exactly the same. The "low-res" textures thing on ships litteraly kills all the others efforts made on the new engine, like HDR&Co. I really hope it will be fixed with the final release, or else i will stay with the "classic" models, and i don't think i'll be the only one, sadly
