Why in the hell are so many people in this damn game worried about what gender Jade is? I mean ****, you aren't going to score either way. Many of you play badass combat pilots but a lot of you spent most of your teenage years trying to get out of your locker or pulling somebody's boot out of your ass. Yet people let you roleplay that you are tough, smart and worth while.
Look at the avatars not one fat one in the lot. Yet from the tech talk on these forums I know a lot of you have to be really fat computer dorks who's only experience with friction is their daily dozen doughnuts sliding down their pie hole.
In conclusion jades gender is her biz and only her biz so STFU.

There's 3 possible answers.
1. They're lame
2. They're very lame.
3. They're so far beyond lame that they couldn't even see it if they looked over their shoulder and used a radio telescope 
I personally think they'd like Jade to be a man in RL because they wouldn't feel so bad about getting their butts kicked in the forums every day by another bloke rather than a girl.

lol, I will confess that I go running every night and workout thrice a week to make sure I don't get fat ;)
(its one of my pet terrors ;)
but I do wonder if its all down to restrained ambiguous sexuality issues, little chaps wondering if they are too excited by potentially bi-sexual urges. I certainly felt like some guys in the PA were trying to "pull" me on occassion ...
People do need to get real, it's a roleplaying game (yes, even if you don't roleplay) ... we none of us have starships and i'd say the majority have no combat experience of any kind.

Back to the point though, who really cares? I enjoy the posts that Jade does as they are extremely eloquent and compared to the usual flaming that goes on are a breath of fresh air. He/she is an intelligent person who enjoys the game for his/her own ability to roleplay. I agree fully with Jade on her point that its a game, a lot of people who play it are computer geeks (no offense meant here as i know some great computer wizkids) and only a small minority are in the armed forces and will ever understand the meaning of true combat. The only combat i know is my boxing and the occaisonal street fight that occurs (so i live in a crap area, sue me) and this game and others i play stop me from taking to the streets full time and ending up in prison.

Well seriously I think you nailed it with the overweight computer dork (I'm a underweight computer dork btw). A lot of those people have never seen a woman in real life so the thought of sweeping off with the girl of their dreams in an online computer game sounds rather tempting.

Does it really matter about gender? Personally I find Jade very stimulating as both a conversationalist and in personality. Gender shouldnt need to cross those boundaries, so its really not anyones place to issue judgement or commentary - unless you are in need of reassurance when it comes to your own sexual identity.

Yes, I have the feeling that there aren't many girls with alot of combat experience.
So according to me the chances that you would beat me or any of my corpmates in a 1on1 ( including the chicks) would be slimmer then if you were a guy.
But I agree with your point that other things then gender decide on skill.
I ask you to deny that girls play these kind of games as much as guys do, and that of those girls you kind find the same amount of powergamers ( in percentage.
I really believe that women are more social then men, and thus have a larger social life and less time for games.
( there are exceptions I know)

Actually in that case i agree with you - very few chicks IMHO enjoy the rousing rush of an exploding missle - I guess its a stereotyping that might work to ones advantage in a combat situation....though i wont attempt to judge anyones ability I havent yet met in a battle, female or not :)
Women are more social, I completely agree. I am the only of my female group of friends with even a remote interest in videogaming - sadly.

People take too many things personally when they spend a lot of time on something. I know I'm prone to do that sometimes, and I force myself to take a few days off to go play something else.
I've been playing Online games since BBS, FidoNet, and Genie. I think I ran into one person I met in-game at GenCon once. I can't see how someone's out of game information, be it gender, race, or creed, have anything to do with anything else as long as you leave it in-game, and it isn't harrasment.
I play a bi/***-focused character. I find the sexual tension and my (hopefully) comedic jabs and subjects helps people to have fun and relax, while still feeling a bit perplexed and nudging them to exercise their wit.
Am I *** IRL? Am I a man or a woman? Does it matter to anyone? Is someone going to eve-mail me a booty call request? Would I accept it?
The world of Eve is a compliated place, there's no reason to add the complications of real life on top of it.
Though, this does make me think that we need to create a TS/Ventrilo client that does voice obfuscation.. It shouldn't be that hard, I have a bunch of DirectX Vocoder Plug-ins for my music software...

The only thing I can say is "meh".
Some people don't like roleplayers. Some people don't "get it" and powerplay in EVE. It is understandable that these people get uncomfortable when people (rp) switch genders.
Jade is also a "questionable" character, that just happens when you are a spokesman for an unstable alliance. And when you don't like someone, personal attacks follow, because there is nothing there to attack but the person Jade portrays. And when that person is, well, "false", it's easy to call it "perversion" or whatever.
But goddamnit. I'm going to bed.

I for one like using females for all my game characters. It's more of a habbit really ever since games started giving you the gender option. Chicks are more slick looking, that's why I use them. I don't hide my sexuality because I have a problem with guys coming onto me just because I have a hawt sexy avatar. If for some reason I decided to roleplay nails female in game, er.. I just wouldn't feel right with myself.. Actually I would just feel wrong and icky.
Either way, I'll keep using females forevermore (unless they are hella ugly like in Morrowind).

I want too know what is behind the character in RL. You play this game 3 or 4 years or so or even longer friendships will be build. And it will most embarrassing. If met that person and it turn out to be man or women. You visualize things.
You do not talk only over eve you talk over other things aswell.
But most female think man thinks only of one thing only, why should i play eve then, there are enough other sides then too see on the internet.
So any female charater made in this game is for me a man if proven otherwise.
And in 99% of the cases it is so. But if i find out it will not change my friendship too that person it only makes it stronger.

Well when I arrived there was a fight going on at the main entrance. A Danish national calling himself Golan Trevize had apparently been 'camping' the door for Minmatars. I am not exactly sure what this 'camping' is - but the gentleman was dressed rather strangely. As for what the Minmatars are I deduced that they are an ethnic group from Eastern Europe who have come here to live off our benefits.
Mr Golan Trevize (who apparently works for an organisation called PIE?) was involved in a scuffle with a man calling himself 'Wren' who was very upset about 'slavery' and intent on destroying the 'Empire'.
Well sir, I am afraid I wasn't sure which Empire he was referring to but as the guy looked a bit dodgy (and on the off chance he had something against the Queen) I decided to arrest him under the counter-terrorism act.
He is currently in Charing Cross nick being intterrogated by Scotland Yard. Personally I think he must be linked to Al-Qaeda.
Just as I had managed to seperate these two another fracas broke out. As I attempted to make my way across the various others in the bar warned the combatants that 'Concord' was on its way. I am still trying to figure that one out.
Apparently a gentleman known as Lord Zap was a bit upset about (losing his ship?) recently and had decided to 'gank' someone. He was engaged in a heated debate with a person of indeterminate sex who referred to herself as Jade Constantine.
Lord Zap was accusing Ms Jade of being a 'carebear'. I have to say that the aforementioned Ms. Constantine, who incidentally looks nothing like a carebear, was giving as good as she got - hardly allowing Mr Zap to get a word in edgeways - much to his frustration.
I eventually decided to arrest Mr Zap after he threatened to 'pod' Ms Constantine - as I assumed this was a threat of a sexual nature.
Things queietened down for a while until one group accused another of being 'noobie battleship miners' and then all hell broke loose.
I have to admit I joined an individual named Joshua Calvert who managed to escape the bedlam by hiding behind the bar in what he termed a 'safespot'. It was the only sensible thing anyone said all night...
