I don't understand how so many people can fit in the system? I was doing missions there fine, then all of a sudden it lags so bad I can't move, I get in and eventually dock, I attempt to undock and screen simply won't move, I find this frustrating and I have attempted to log back in but I can't even get a visual now, how can I move about freely for so long before it lags that badly? Also how are people suppose to move in and out of a system if this is the case?

Solution: leave Jita and don't troll the forums.

Let me rephrase, how is it I managed to be in the system for so long then suddenly it bogs down to barely moving, then a minute later no movement at all?

Jita is a horrible place. Your question should have been how did you manage to be in the system for so long without it bogging down. The answer to that is you were just lucky, but don't count on it.

This.
Jita happens to be the biggest trade hub in all of EVE, and because of this, it attracts a large amount of people there, which in turn overloads the node dedicated to Jita. I'd highly recommend finding another agent that won't have you flying through Jita, as there's a few days a week where logging or jumping into Jita means getting stuck for most of the day. ---

Most of the server nodes that run EVE can handle several systems at the same time. Jita currently monopolizes a full node all by itself. More and more people keep cramming into Jita until they can't get in anymore. Any time the hardware is upgraded/expanded to better handle the load, more lemmings run toward Jita. (Plus, there are times of day where the load is heavier than others. Weekends are worse.)
Simple enough explanation? _______________________________

As mentioned by a Dev in a similar thread.... Log in with an Alt character and put in a petition under "Stuck".
Or you could wait for some time when Jita isn't so crowded/busy. (Have to watch the traffic numbers with an alt or a buddy)
In the future....try to avoid Jita. _______________________________

You can also file a "stuck" petition from the website.
Look for the button on the left called "Create New Petition". It's fairly straightforward. |

What exactly is it about Jita? Is there something special about it, or does it just have the force of trade history behind it now? You'd think that you could hardly call something a trade hub if there are whole stretches of time where you can't trade on it...
Just curious about what made Jita into Jita.

Jita is a centralized location, and there were more reasons, in the past, why it was such a great hub. There was a gate change, that was designed to lessen some of the load, but people were just stuck using Jita as a trade hub. It's basically just embedded into everyone's head that you must trade in jita :p Unless you have a lot to sell, stay out of Jita. There are tons of agents very close to Jita that will have you missioning and staying out of that terrible lag filled place. Also, stay out of Motsu, the lag is pretty bad there too. I'd go at least 5-10 jumps away from Jita and run missions. It'll be quieter, but still busy enough to find items you'll need, such as ammo and new drones.

Jita ****es me off honestly... it cost me 0.2 of my standing with a Perimeter agent because I had to turn down jobs that kept having me sent into Jita.
I hate Jita. I'm a trader in many respects and when I try and trade or create something the rare item, ore, ship etc. I need is always in Jita. It drives me crazy.
I say BOYCOTT the damn system. Refuse to pass through Jita for ANY reason. If enough people start doing this then maybe it'll stop being an issue and we can go back into Jita in a while.
However. If enough people stop doing it you may actually be able to buy stuff from a system that, shock, horror, isn't Jita. Wouldn't that be a nice shock.

Just curious about what made Jita into Jita.
There are, or were (I'm not sure which since I avoid it like the plague), a lot of good agents there. This created a mission-runner hub since Caldari are the most popular race. Where there are mission runners, there are traders.
Eventually there were so many traders that many people went there for one-stop shopping.
Now the majority of players seem to think that they can only buy goods in Jita, and that Jita has the best prices. This is untrue, but the myth continues.

To simplify, rules for Jita:
1. Appreciate Jita for having the lowest average prices of any system in the game, and the widest availability of modules.
2. Do not run missions there.
3. Zoom as far out as possible before entering the system.
4. DO NOT LOG OFF THERE AND THEN TRY TO LOG IN AT PEAK TIMES. Log off in Perimeter.
5. Recognize the value of other trade hubs like Oursulaert, Rens, and... I've been out of Empire space for too long so I forget the others. There are a few more though. Oursulaert in Essence is probably the next best trade hub to Jita though.

Maybe this has drawbacks, but instead of continually expanding Jita's node, why not put a cap on traffic into-out of Jita, like a 400 or 500 person cap, and spread the resources into adjacent systems, all sellers don't fit under one stall, so why have all sellers in one system when so many close adjacent systems to spread out the lag. In fact I would think that many would already be capitalizing on this laggy system by posting most of their wares nearby instead of in the system.

Traders already can trade with Jita remotely, and some do. Problem is, the goods still have to be deposited at Jita because the people that buy will not settle for as little as one jump away from their favorite trade hub. It's simple economics. You sell where there is demand. That's in Jita itself, mainly Jita 4-4.

I just don't understand what the lovely people at CCP where thinking... mission agents in Jita? Please...
Jita is one of the busyest systems in all of EVE... so my advice is: Never do missions there and never log out while in Jita, you'll be sorry when you try to log back in...

I'm sure if they knew what exactly is causing so much lag and had the means to resolve it, Jita wouldn't have the reputation of being a laggy hellhole that it has now.
1. Don't run missions in Jita. When you lose your first Drake or Raven there due to lag, remember that you have been warned.
2. Don't go there from 18:00 to 21:00 EVE time any day and one hour before downtime.
3. Don't leave your character there before the weekend.
4. If you get stuck there and unable to log on file a Stuck Character petition through this forum and within an hour you'll be rescued and transported one jump out.
5. Always use wtz and don't hang by the gated. Many trigger happy suicide gankers hang around there.
