After playing around on the Test server for a day i suddenly found myself unable to launch the game client, As in, Neither the test server client nor the TQ client will launch.
It will go as far as the splash screen when i try to launch, Then the splash disappears, And nothing more happens, Though "Exefile.exe" gets added to running processes in CAD.
Now, I've tried clearing my Cache, When that didn't work i uninstalled and reinstalled the whole game, Still no luck.
I've also tried uninstalling then opening regedit and deleting anything i can find which is associated with EVE or CCP, Then reinstalling, That also didn't work.
I tried running the Log server to find out what's failing, And at a certain point it says "Failed to start service gameui", The way i read this is that for some reason the game launches, But without the user interface, uuh.. what?
So i filed a petition under tech support using the web interface detailing everything i knew, what i've tried to correct it, And asking for help and got an answer within one day telling me to clear my cache, Which i had already specified didn't work, So i answered that i had already tried it and asked if they had any other ideas.
Now it's been two more days and i haven't heard anything more.
I Honestly can't figure out how to fix this, Which is why i'm posting here, Anyone got any ideas on how to get my EVE client working again? |

You deleted both clients correct, test and TQ? I read the part about, "I've also tried uninstalling then opening regedit and deleting anything i can find which is associated with EVE or CCP, Then reinstalling, That also didn't work." but can't assume that you indeed did delete both clients.
If so, then I'm out of suggestions, otherwise delete the test client if you didn't already. Also do a search for "CCP" and "Eve" as the client deposits a couple folders outside the .exe folder. Then reinstall. Hope that helps.

Yup, I deleted both clients, And also searched for CCP and EVE and deleted what i found :/
Hence why i'm so confused, I really don't see what/where it can still be lurking around causing this error.
Thanks anyway. |

It'll be your Eve settings are corrupt. Deinstalling doesn't delete them I don't think.
They are right next to the cache files in "Application Settings". Where that is located varies but it'll almost certainly be in the "Windows" directory.

I have the same exact problem, but another problem... to fix it, the previous poster said to delete the EvE Settings data, right? And that they are right next to the cache files in "Application Settings". I looked in both my C and D drives, C being my system hard-drive, and I couldn't find this. A corpmate (I managed to get EvE working on my laptop) told me that the file i had to delete was in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\CCP
I can't find that either.
Can someone PLEASE help me with this? I'd like to play EvE before Trinity is released on Wednesday.

It is. I finally found it thanks to the help of a reply to someone else's petition posted on the forums
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE
I found the Settings folder there, i deleted it, but it didn't help. I went to start EvE, the same thing happened. I watched the folder as it happened too, the settings folder re-appeared, the splash screen stayed up for about a minute or so, and then vanished. No log-in client, but- OH! No here it is, FINALLY. Took it 5 minutes to finally come up, i heard the music just as i was typing. Is it going to take this long all the time now? I hope not...

I have a similar problem that seemed to stat up after installing the test surver (last saterday november the something) after spending a day mucking around I started getting problems with TQ, at first i would just crash every 40 mins or so losing connection (never happend before, nothing eles was changed on pc) finaly i had a big crash at the end of the week and eve just wouldn't load, I deleted eve and everything related too it, absolutly everything, updated my .NET up dated my graphics drivers restarted a number of times and finaly got to the character login screen through an alt before my main woudl work. So then eve ran fine for a few days but now the problems back and As im typing this eve, again will not load the charater screen. All i can think is, is that whatever has changed on my PC is affecting Itunes aswell, Im not saying eve trinity is the cause but its all i can think of. If this give anyone a brain wave pleas post it quick, in the mean time ill keep plugging away and checking stuff and see if i cant get it moving, maybe a few restars will help

you much have missed something.
i have had the same problem and here is what i have done. regedit - ther is a key which is in CCP forlder and them use windows search local draive for CCP or EVE and anything that comes up in your C drive got to be delited ( unless you install your evev in c...in which case delite everything that isnt in original eve folder)
after that it worked fine..ther are a few folders that you should find called CCP or EVE when you search your c drive

Edited by: Margeth on 04/12/2007 23:32:28 Yeah, Obviously was something i was missing, I deleted the whole eve folder at C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE but obviously something was still haunting that spot since it started working once i added /end /LUA:OFF to the shortcut i use to launch eve.
Thanks anyway, (And thanks EVE mods.) |
