Last night we had a pretty nasty ice storm "super-cooled rain freezes on contact with anything". Covered our entire town in an inch or so of solid ice. Sure it may be a pain to sc*****off or drive in, but it sure looks cool when it begins to melt and everything glistens. Couldn't resist taking some pics.

There, now all the pics should work. Also actually by the time I took the pictures it was around 40F, 5-7C and it was all beginning to melt "which gave it it's sheen". It was yesterday that we had the freezing rain.

We've gotten a few ice storms in Idaho a few times but only once was it even worth mentioning and that one time it took me an hour just to even get into my truck just so I could fire it up to defrost the rest on the windows. Ice storms can be nasty stuff.

Biggest problem with ice storms is when they coat up power lines, trees and other overhanging features. I think Ontario/Quebec got hit hard a few years back because of something like this, a few hundred thousand homes without heat in the middle of winter (they heat their homes with electricity instead of natural gas, those heathens.).
Needless to say there were alot of cold and whiny french Canadians, more so than usual I should say.
