Rants, whines, complaints is all I seem to see on the subject of the upcoming drone changes, but I can't see why.
Quote: Bandwidth Drone bandwidth is a new additional constraint on drones which limits the drones that can be deployed. Each ship has an available bandwidth for controlling drones that all deployed drones must share. Every drone has a bandwidth requirement which must be available on the controlling ship when launching the drone. Once launched, the bandwidth required by the drone is reserved for that drone and not available to other drones. Bandwidth is reclaimed once the drone returns to the drone bay or control of the drone is lost. With bandwidth the damage output from drones can be limited while still allowing for spare drones. Drone bandwidth requirements:
* light drones: 5Mbit/s * medium drones: 10Mbit/s * heavy drones: 25Mbit/s
Ship bandwidth:
* Frigates: 0-25Mbit/s * Destroyers: 0-25Mbit/s * Cruisers: 0-50Mbit/s * Battlecruisers: 25-75Mbit/s * Battleships: 75-125Mbit/s
Exceptions for drone ships:
* Ishkur: 25Mbit/s bandwidth, 25m3 + 5m3/level drone bay * Vexor: 75Mbit/s bandwidth, 100m3 dronebay * Ishtar: 125Mbit/s bandwidth, no change in dronebay * Arbitrator, Curse, Pilgrim: 50 Mbit/s bandwidth, 150m3 dronebay * Myrmidon: 75Mbit/s bandwidth, 150m3 dronebay * Eos: 75Mbit/s bandwidth, 150m3 + 15m3/level dronebay
That's AWESOME! You can carry MORE drones. As for the "butthurt" over the Eos and Myrm, you knew it was coming. 5 heavy drones in a BC? Pshh, it was nice, but a limited luxury. Now I can toss extra mediums or smalls depending on the situation in my Myrm, fantastic! Now I dont have to stress over losing a drone or two and my favorite HAC, the Ishtar is still a fierce drone boat :D
So please, just move on and get over it. This change is a good one. Thank you CCP :) ----------------------------------- CCP Please update my portrait on the website/forums :D

Old news, but good.
They should have implemented this right away when they introduced drones, would've saved alot of whining, too. Sig removed for the third time, inappropriate content. Sig Locked. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] - Cortes |

* Arbitrator, Curse, Pilgrim: 50 Mbit/s bandwidth, 150m3 dronebay
Yay! ECM + combat loadouts ahoy! Now the Curse/Pilgrim needs a slight cargobay buff to fit more cap charges to bring it back to its former glory..

Neutralizers are being boosted, so they'll use less cap. That'll help the curse/pilgrim.

I fly almost exlusively gallente, and I think this change is just fine. Aside from one thing.
75Mbits on the Eos? This thing is a command ship ffs. I'm not saying give it 125Mbits, but don't you think it should be able to field more drones than the T1 BC, or even the T1 cruiser? And to add insult to injury, it lost two turret hardpoints too. It now does less damage than a Myrmidon, and has the worst gang warfare links of any race. Why fly the thing?

Yes, a COMMAND ship, not an gank / dps ship... All the other command ships have an insane tank and reasonable DPS, just like the EOS is getting now. But the primary role of the COMMAND ships is to give gang bonuses, not to pwn everyone with loads of DPS... _______

Played to death, but I've got one objection... and that's to the "pshh 5 heavy drones in a BC" comment.
I find this particularly amusing given that you mention the Ishtar as still being a great drone boat.
Just a reminder, the Ishtar is a CRUISER sized ship and can field 5 heavy drones.
Now you'll probably say, "oh... but its a HAC so its makes sense that they can field 5 heavies!"
That's fine, but I'd like to refer you back to your original post where you said "pshh" to 5 heavies on a BC. One of the BCs you specifically mention is the EOS, which unless I'm somehow mistaken is a Command Ship and thus tech 2.
So my question to you is this, why is it ridiculous to think of tech one and two Battlcruisers as being able to field 5 heavy drones, but its fine to think of a tech two cruiser as being able to field 5 heavy drones?

Look at the damage of the Ishtar vs the damage of other HACs.
Look at the damage of the EOS vs the damage of other 'FLEET' command ships.
Find your answer.
TBH though, removing turrets from the EOS and leaving it with the drones would have been more in keeping with the CreoDron style :\
It was defintely in need of a nerf in the DPS stakes (look at the Vulture/Claymore/Damnation in comparison to the current EOS).

I'm spec'd Gallente, but I have no real objection to the incoming changes (maybe because I haven't tried them out on Sisi.)
I was more interested in the OP's logic, not actually game balance logic. And, again, his logic was "pshh" Battlecruisers shouldn't be able to field heavy drones, but that cruiser should!
It makes more sense intuitively to me that BCs would field 5 heavies than cruisers, and coupled with the above quoted logic of the OP, I was amused.
