The only thing missing is that canon weapon types and shielding systems. I think of you include those star trek canon wins out against all. If you account for those no other ship stands a chance. It's stated in episodes of tng that federation shield systems in star trek are completly immune to laser based weapons, (though SW turbo lasers aren't lasers, it takes a can of gas, turns it into plasma and then fires it, negated by the following statement and the fact that shield routines cna just be altered to you know, sit in a sun.) Also kenetic based weapons are useless as well since the basic navigational deflector is designed to withstand micro meteor impacts while moving at like 900x the speed of light, and that's not even the offensive shielding system.
Add to that, that star trek canon has mastered energy to mass conversions with the transpoters and you've got problems for everyone. You can't fight when your crew just got beamed into space.
man your science is bad and your facts are worse, star trek shields are NOT immune to lasers, nothing is. The reason lasers come up so frequently in sci fi is because they litteraly don't have a top end power, as long as you pump more energy into it it'll continue to get more intense, the only limitation is your powersource, and the stress levels your firing mechanism can take. Also a phaser is a type of laser, just more theoreticle than the normal ones, and another thing, ammar have Tachyon lasers, that sounds like something out of trek to me IMO.
its all moot anyway, the vorlon's and shadows could wtfpwn the whole lot of them with a couple of scout ships. ... Why do I PvP? Because I love the feeling I get when I see the pretty lights and know that someone somewhere is screaming incoherently at their computer screen. |

Here's a better comparison. Homeworld 2 tech to EVE tech, who would win?
yay for babylon 5, the only one that actually tried to be hard sci fi (well untill firefly) ... Why do I PvP? Because I love the feeling I get when I see the pretty lights and know that someone somewhere is screaming incoherently at their computer screen. |

Homeworld 2, no doubt. Its battleships have like 20 guns, eve's battleships has 8. Go figure.
the biggest/most powerfull ships you could build in HW2 were the Higaran battlecruisers, they had 2x daul Ion beam, I think a couple regular Ions, and like 4 pulsar cannons for deffence.
The Point defence systems mod for that game on the other hand... yeah if anyone else played that you try to describe it, I can't. ... Why do I PvP? Because I love the feeling I get when I see the pretty lights and know that someone somewhere is screaming incoherently at their computer screen. |

how do you figure? sure they blew up a planet, but a single shadow battle crab has about the same firepower. I'll go dig up the essay from b5tech ... Why do I PvP? We need ship explosions to cause damage in EVE!
I'd count the Dominion+Cardasians+Breen VS Federation+Klingons+Romulans as a pretty big blob war ... Why do I PvP? Because I love the feeling I get when I see the pretty lights and know that someone somewhere is screaming incoherently at their computer screen. |

Originally by: Crumplecorn I did find it amazing the first time I read the Star Wars Vs. Star Trek comparison that someone could write something that long and detailed, and fail the realize that entire time that the comparison is invalid as they are two different universes.
true but he's actually pretty accurate, most of the stuff is based on observed phenomemon within the shows and movies, and then estimating the forces involved, the B5 tech site is even more accurate in that regard.
But basically yeah they are two seperate universes with observed phenomena that would be physically impossible IRL and in eachother, so the comparison is somewhat skewed.
B5 still kicks both their asses though, where the trek universe has a tech base thats ~300 years beyond our own, and the starwars has a tech base ~2000 years ahead, the ancients in B5 are about 2 billion years ahead
and of course none of it matters because it's all pretend. ... Why do I PvP? Because I love the feeling I get when I see the pretty lights and know that someone somewhere is screaming incoherently at their computer screen. |

Bringing a vorlon planet killer is overkill IMO, a Mimbari Sharlin class war cruiser is a kilometer long, nearly two kilometers tall, it's attack speed is roughly 20% the speed of light (.2C), it's powered by a freaking black hole for gods sake, and it has the firepower to render a planet uninhabitable. you could bring a fleet of ships from any of the other universes and it'd wtfbbqpwn them in minutes.
think I'm exaggerating? read the specs
