I can't log in. I updated the client and everything. I'm running classic version. When i launch the client it seems that it can't connect to the server. Now its not the Firewall cause I added it to the allow part (even though it was there already), I even disabled the firewall and rebooted the computer and nothing. I know people where having this problem on Test server but can't seem to find a fix for Tranq server. THX!

I'm pretty much having the same problem i think, i can play no problem on the laptop, wirefree, but i can't connect on the desktop, i keep getting
"connection failed - Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong."
My router settings, firewall etc are all the same as they were before the patch was deployed.

i uninstalled and reinstalled EVE but still no help, server status is at "unknown" still, i thought maybe it was a firewall problem but turning that off didn't help either.
i'll keep looking and see if i can figure something out, but it's almost 0130hrs so don't hold your breath!

Please remember a couple of things - if you're having problems with the patch, thousands of people trying to download it at the same time can cause errors.
Actually getting in game, the log-ins afaik are throttled until server stability is ensured, this may be the issue there.

The problem here is the inability to actually log in.....the posts i read in that link were from people who had logged in. A corp mate of mine just said that certain ports were to be closed for reasons he did not know.

ISD member, THX for the official answer!! Soo you guys aint slepping huh? lol
Anyways... this is the same error that people were having with Sisi when Trinity came out on test server... The only problem is that Now with Trinity coming out to Tranq, we have the same problem with Tranq. Can you provide us with the Tranq server IP soo at least we can try using the Sisi Hotfix for this while you guys figure out what's going on? thx

I'm going to forget about it and turn in, it's 2am here, and given CCP's good track record i'm sure all will be fixed soon. A patch of this size is sure to have a few mior problems. Big up to CCP and all ISD members, who i'm sure are going to have their hands full for a while!!

Hi guys,
I would suggest you try clearing your cache and settings folders (see here for where they are located). This can often help with login issues and corrupted settings.
Failing that, I would suggest filing a stuck petition. If you continue having issues, please try and run logserver and bug report them, so that we can get it fixed up (see here) -- The cake is a lie! |

i get that splash-then nothing too. no login screen. just exefile in process list. i filed a bug with log but they just told me to update drivers and directx. i get reports from people that they have classic working ok with older directx:es too (older than 1 month). I updated the dx anyways and it still isnt working. I have also tried deleting all cache and settings. i also did a full reinstall from scratch.

Iirc I have read somewhere that after clasic patch eve will try to determine the posibility for premium via windows Background Intelligent Transfer Service. Now... I'm runing tinyxp and don't have that service, and logserver is complaining about svc erors. Can someone from here with normal xp :) werify that after enabling windows Background Intelligent Transfer Service login was sucessful so i can reinstall my windows :) A sig? |

Hi again folks, here's my update and possibilities on this subject -
I received an email from ccp regarding my petition asking if the problem was still ongoing as their records showed i'd logged on since the petition, i explained i'd logged on as a test with a borrowed laptop and i am still having the problem with MY pc, i'm still awaiting a response to this.
I am wondering if it is a port forwarding problem from my pc, as the laptop connected wirelessly via my belkin router. However my tech skills aren't at all good so i have no idea how to resolve this if it is the problem (i don't even know how to find out if that is the problem!)
Hopefuly the above paragraph may stimulate an idea, or a glimmer of hope for someone reading this thread and maybe we can get to the bottom of the problem.

For those unable to connect to server try this. I had this stupid frakking problem last night.
1: right click the EvE icon and select 'properties' 2: Go to the 'target' field and make sure the IP address looks like this "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe" /end /server:87.237.38.200
I hope this helps you liked it helped me.

I saw a glimmer of hope in that as the /end /server:87.237.38.200 was not actually in the target field, sadly i'm still getting
"Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong."
Many thanks for trying tho :)

I had the same problem until I read an old post last night.. He said that he had a trial of zone alarm that expired but not deleted from system and does not start up at log in. I thought to myself I have an old zone alarm that I dont use anymore since buying symantec firewall.. so I removed zone alarm with remove programs under control panel, rebooted pc and viola.. Eve Started.. heh.. finally after all day wondering what was wrong.
So if you have zone alarm and it expired.. kill it.. it's a passive pain in the A** for Eve. In Process |

I sent CCP a petition regarding the fact that this error keeps coming up, and this is what I got in return:
Quote: Hello, Currently our server is under heavy load from everyone downloading the patch. This will cause some latency issues for a few days until everyone has successfully downloaded the new content. Thank you for your patience. Regards, EvE Customer support
So, everybody hang tight for a month or so, and everything will work itself out in the end...

I have fixed my problem using the Norton Removal Tool. Seems like the Add/Remove program on Vista doesn't completely remove the program.
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
After the first reboot, I go the blue screen of death with a irql issue but rebooted without trying to repair and it worked. I haven't been able to log in to eve due to downtime but the news page works and I can see it trying to check the status.

i'v been having connection problems with eve since trinity patch sometimes i'v been able to connent but for the most parts im having problems right on the client login part.
sometimes it just dont show the server status or take long time. even if do manage to click connect and start the login process it usualy get stuck on authenticating. today i'v noticed it showing "Aquiring Bulk Data" and it get stuck on like part 6 at 11 or 29 out of 77 KB of whatever it is.
its like somthing is chocking but its definatly not my network since i dont use any firewall or router and everything else is just brilliant.
i'v tried to reinstall and delete caches, but nothing works im sure i will eventualy manage to connect if i try for hours just as i managed to connect several times in the last days since trinity.
but somthing is terribly wrong here.
