Got possible solution to all who play via HTTP-Tunnel , or proxy.
Just add to you Environment Variables (Start->Settings->Control Panel->System->Advanced)
Variable Name : HTTP_PROXY Variable Value: http://login:[email protected]:port ( or just proxy address if it's anonymous)
Helps me to initiate keyboard via HTTP-Tunnel
Brilliant. That explains it. I'm trying to log in from work. Here, all port 80 (and all other web traffic, https etc) is routed via a proxy which requires authentication. Since I can't authenticate in the eve client the proxy is rejecting the connection. All other traffic is direct (ie: not via proxies).
For anybody who is still confused, this is not related to your keyboard, video, drivers or anything like that. It's a network issue. This could manifest in many different ways depending on how you are conecting to the internet.
I hope CCP changes the way this functions. ____________________________________________

And what for those who don't use any proxy?

If you don't use proxy or http-tunnel , chek your firewall setnnigs. Probably u let EVE freely bypas your firewall to 26000 port. I guess you should open 80 port too ... or just allow eve conenct to all possible ports.

OK What a B***h F*** of a bug.. here is how you fix it if you are tunneling with ssh.
add another loop back interface to your machine and give it the ipaddress 87.237.39.199
Then open putty and load your saved settings go to tunneling and enter 87.237.39.199:80 for local and remote.
w00t! Fixed.
Ohh and if you are having trouble getting tunneling to work run your ssh server at home on port 443. hehehe

Heya folks, i had the trouble of not being able to type anything at the login screen, but no fear chaps, i found a guaranteed workaround, at the cost of simply terminating your internet connection before you run the EVE client, then once login screen loads, re-connect your net at voila! Hope this helps.

I just copied the proxy string that is set up my browser (company stuff - uses a proxy.pac ??) into the HTTP_PROXY value and bingo. Looks like eve is not finding the proxy setting from within whereever the browser stores it (registery?) but is getting it from that system variable OK.
If you're on a network that uses Proxy Automatic Configuration (eg proxy.pac) set up from assigning proxy information to your browser etc then it would seem that the Eve client isn't picking up this configuration at all. The configuration file is fetched and reloaded every time a new page is loaded, so it's not that the Eve client can't access the registery settings etc, it's that it simply doesn't seem to be able to use this type of configuration option. This is why setting the proxy information in the way described above works fine, but the auto config one doesn't. Not that this affects me as I'm a network admin at my work, so get pretty much free reign on changing stuff like this, but annoying for people that can't set this option for whatever reason.
Any chance of this being added to the client so it can cope with Proxy Automatic Configuration??
Originally by: Iteken Hotori I've had this problem and just resolved it thanks to a few poitners in this thread.
it's caused by cheap / dodgy Personal firewall software. Eiter create a rule to emplicitly allow traffic to / from the eve servers (proxies / api / the lot) or (NOT RECCOMENDED) realise you have a p.o.s firewall and disable it to play eve.
Just because your firewall is blocking the traffic doesn't mean it's a P.O.S. (although depending what you're using it could be anyway). Personally, I have any firewalls I configure block all traffic by default and then allow the traffic that I want passing through it, makes it a lot easier to lock down. The issues a lot of people are seeing are down to proxy configuration rather than the firewall directly, even if your firewall is blocking port 80 and 26000 you should be able to get on through a proxy and socks, as long as they are set up properly. Of course this does depend on the firewall/proxy/socks set up in question so YMMV.

I have no proxy, this simply happens.
I've read your links, CCP Explorer, and they don't seem to relate to me.
I'm in Linux, and SOMETIMES I can login using the keyboard, usually not. If I do finally log in, I can't type in EVE.
The weird thing I see that may help you guys track this down, is that if I hit TAB or ESC during these keyboardless times, CEDEGA blanks the screen, and the text "EVE" appears, highlit in blue. Clicking on it or hitting any other key at this point will cause the "EVE" text to vanish - but the screen stays black and the program locks up and requires a hard kill (kill -9) to destroy it.
Sounds to me like CEDEGA / Wine is getting confused..
Any help!?

Ok..
I figured out a workaround for LINUX heads out there.
The Issue: Keyboard stops working in LINUX Client The Reason: ALT-TAB from EVE can confuse CEDEGA into believing the ALT key is still down. (IOW: It misses the release of the ALT key) The Fix: Once you alt-tab back to EVE and notice that your keyboard doesn't work no matter what, press and release ALT to clear the stuck key in CEDEGA - typing should be fine now.
Hope someone gets some use of this.
