Have you noticed a strange graphical glitch when you exit a stargate?
I get these strange white boxes flashing all over my cloaked raven, they disapear when I start to move and the gate cloak wears off (love the new de-cloaking effect btw).
I found out high bloom setting was causing this, normal was ok it fixed the glitch.
*edit* I say this on this thread mainly because I got this glitch only after changing settings to get AA and HDR working together, so this may be a side effect.
However it could be the GTX8800 ive had problems in other games with HDR and funny bloom glitches on this card.
i also have this problem, but setting bloom to low didnt solve it for me :( (you sure you set yours to "normal"? i have no normal setting, just none/low/high) setting bloom to none did fix it, but took away precious bloom :(
btw, Commander Prishe, i tried 16xQ and it did seem to work without the game crashing.. dunno if you can improve on anything knowing that
edit: wonderful guide btw, i had heard the 8xxx could support aa+hdr but never knew how to do it before :)

Nope, it seems to automaticaly take over the nvidia control panel settings, also the settings are immediate as soon as you select them, you dont even have to click apply or anything, I keep it active in my taskbar (as it takes time to load up each time).

Yeah sorry not normal bloom I meant none. hehe I havent disabled it either I can live with the glitch, I love my bloom to much
16XQ AA definatly crashes for me even if I change to it while im ingame, I would like it to work though Im always one to try and get the max visual's settings possible (which is why we purchased these powerful cards).

Originally by: Darth Revanant With nHancer's EVE profile running per this thread my computer crashes and restarts after running EVE for about 10 mins, even just sitting in a station the whole time. Windows consistently blames it on nVidia. I even got my first BSoD in Vista (32 bit ultimate) because of this. I installed the latest update from the nVidia website dated 6 Dec, but it still happens. I'm running 2 8800 GTXs in SLi. Any ideas?
Not sure really, im on vista 64 bit home premium and running one GTX8800, I'll get my second sometime next year when the 9xxx series cards come out and high end 8xxxx series cards lower in price. Could be an SLI problem, idk if its supported in trinity yet.

not sure if this is a separate issue - prior to the patch I was running AA by putting the "advancedDevice=1" line in my prefs.ini...post patch this is broken - is the only way to get AA is to force it externally via the nvidia/nhancer drivers or is there a way to get the option to turn it on within the client itself? I don't even get the option, even though I have "advanced options" checked...
HDR I do have but to tell you the truth, I haven't noticed a huge difference....

Originally by: Faye Valerii Anyone else noticing occasional very small glitches when using this fix ? For example, when in station and zooming into the walls (rmb, lmb+move up) some textures will flash into a white square for less than a second
This is with premium gfx content, hdr + high bloom, normal shadows, 8800 GTS 163.75
Turn off AA and the bugs disappear
Yes, I see this mostly when I'm cloaked in my Munnin. It has a blinking white light that sometimes flashes into a white square instead of a flaring light. Annoying and lame.
FYI - disabling HDR for me enabled AA in a window. Sweet. HDR would be nice, but a window is more important to me since I use dual monitors.

I talked to one of the CCP guys in help channel the first day the new graphics came out and asked him about the AA not working on nvida cards. He said it was a nvida problem not a ccp problem and that they would have to fit it.
lol...

This nHancer is a nice tool that I haven't been previously familiar with. Is it relatively new?
I'm running on hardware that was pretty much state of the art in Jan. 2006 but seems pretty dated now with everyone seemingly on 8xxxGTX! this and that, so I thought I'd share what I'm seeing so far on my setup:
AMD Opteron 170 2Ghz 2MB L2 Dual Core DFI Lanparty SLI-DR Expert (nForce4) 2x1Gig OCZ Platinum EB pc3200 2x eVGA 7800GT SLI (driver 6.14.11.6375) SB X-FI Fatal1ty soundcard Fresh install of XPSP2 & Dual-Core Optimizer
Profile Settings for ExeFile.exe: Resolution 1600x1200 (Native for LCD)
Enhancements - AA Multisampling 4x - Gamma Correction - Multi- Anisotropic Filtering - 8x (really don't see the reason for this one though,.. it's a space game, but as such it probably isn't giving it any addl. load anyway whereas it's a fps killer in your avg.,..er,..fps shooter. Vertical Sync - Off
Optimizations Texture Filtering - Performance Trilinear optimization - On Aniso. sample optimazation - On
Compatibility AA compatibility - 000000000: gerneral compatibility (may try out that HL2 setting suggested here later) Force mip maps - Bilinear
All settings not mentioned were left unchecked and left to Eve as far as being enabled or not.
The in-game settings, Shadow Quality, Bloom, and Cache Size were all set to 'High'.
Performance is good. Still get some lag when visiting the Contested Gallente Comet in Deltole with the hundreds of wrecks floating around but nothing under 20fps, which is better than I was getting just sitting in station before I started messing with this. 50fps in station, and about 35 when orbiting a busy gate from 30km at high speed. There is alot of room for improvement, these are just the first settins I ran across that were a marked improvement over the default.
I did lose AA when enabling HDR, and maybe with some addl. meddling I can get that back. I think if I have to choose then I'll keep the AA.
I don't know if Eve even makes use of my 2nd video card as other games do. I've seen no mention of support for SLI in Trinity. If this is the case, then SLI Anti-Aliasing may be a better choice than any of the others under the Enhancements tab in nHancer, in order to give the 2nd card something to do, and it may be a good way to force AA+HDR for SLI rigs.

Thanks so much Bo Bojangles.
I was struggling since last week to enable anti-aliasing on my 7900GTX.
My opinion is that EVE is not meant to be fast but to be beautiful. And witouht AA. It is definitvely not. DEV have not enable AA because it seems so hardware depend from what i'm currently reading. They should sent a little gift to nvidia perhaps..
With your help i can now max out all the Quality settings if i stay away from : -- HDR in Eve settings -- "Enhance in-game AA setting" in nHancer
The very good news for me is tha AA is working in Windows mode !!
Thanks also for the testing tips : changing the config in nHancer and switching between "Windows" and "full screen" mode with " ALT + ENTER " was soo handy. Of course CTRL+F to display your FPS is also required.
Anyway, for those interessed and with "old" video cards like 7xxx, here is my personnal configuration :
=== Win XP SP2 / 2go / Ge 7900GTX / latest nvidia driver
=== EVE Settings : 1152x864 / Premium graphics / Shadow Extreme / NO HDR / Cache Extreme Windows mode enabled ( i play on my second screen, a 17 )
=== nHancer settings : Enhancements - AA Combined 16xS - Gamma Correction - Super - Anisotropic Filtering - 16x
Optimizations Texture Filtering - High Quality Trilinear optimization - On Aniso. sample optimazation - On
Compatibility AA compatibility - 000000000: general compatibility Force mip maps - Trilinear
All other options disabled.
=== > Give me around 40 FPS in station and perfect clean image
Will now wait for the coming 9xxxGTX to have even more handsome graphics and decent FPS..
Note : During my test i get almost the same FGP as you, BO. So i assume SLI is not working in EVE.
Thanks all !

Also have a GTX880 which was workoing fine before the nHANCE tool was used - now getting same square boxes as you when under gate cloak - will be interesting to see if they are still there when you use a normal cloak.
Will also try your fix of reducing HDR and edit this post to reflect results.
*EDIT #1* Forgot to add - only other issue I am getting is the "in warp" effect not working quite as it used to. Rather than fading in and out, it appears immediately I hit "warp" and then waits till I am right at my destination and just flicks off. ---
I don't mind you disagreeing with me. Just don't say I don't have the SKILLS to comment. |

I have got HDR Bloom and 16xCSAA working on eve using enhancer. My shadow and cache settings are at medium but Bloom is high. I also get the gate cloak white box problem. White boxes flash around my ship after I jump through a stargate. The boxes go away once Im de-cloaked.

Well I have a Geforce 8800 Ultra, and there is no way I can enable AA. I have tried with nHancer, and in program and nothing. It just lags me. And I can't notice a terrible difference when I enable HDR or anything like that. Its pretty disappointing. -----------------

Thanks to OP managed to get EVE to run with AA in windowed mode (don't care about HDR, but AA really a must have).
AA combined 8xS, Super Transparency AA, Aniso 4x, Trilinear on, AA compatibility HL2, HDR off both in game and in nHancer.
Videocard used is 8800 GTS 512 (G92).
P.S. Settings below the highest possible simply because I often have to run 2-3 clients at same time and performance for me is far more important than eye candy.
