Edited by: Kira Felicitas on 06/12/2007 06:36:42 Hi there, since Trinity there is a new issue: I have two monitors, one with a 1280x1024 resolution. I always had Eve running on this monitor in a window with a 1152x854 resolution. This left the taskbar visible. Now with Trinity, I can not switch to that resolution in window mode: only 1280x1024 and 1024x768 are selectable! But this resolution is available if I switch to fullscreen! (this is with the classic version - I hope that I can select that resolution with the premium client, but I don't believe that)

Similar probelm, used to run windowed at 1280x800 on a 1440x900 monitor, and now I have to run at 1024x768 to see the whole screen in windowed mode. (1152x684 is no good cos the bottom of the screen is obscured by my double tall taskbar). Why oh why isnt there a easy way to change to whatever resolution you want. And how the hell did I get to 1280x800 with revelations 2. Ellisd |

Edited by: Ewiss on 06/12/2007 19:28:08 Right, I found a work around that should work on nvidia cards. I take no responsibility for broken monitors or PCs from using this method.
Open Eve, set it to Windowed mode and 1024x768. Close Eve.
Right Click your Desktop, and go to properties. Settings tab, see if you can change your monitor resolution to the resolution you want eve at.
If you can, excelent, if not:
Open the nvidia control panel. Advanced view. Display. Manage custom resolutions. For each monitor, put in the resolution you want to run eve at. - Select the monitor. Create. Set the Width and Height. Click the advanced button, and set "Timing Standard" to Manual. Test, and save. -- Repeat for EVERY monitor (The trick didnt work for me when I set one of my two monitors to the custom resolution).
Set you monitor(s) to run at the custom resolution.
Open Eve. Cross your fingers that the resolution your monitor is at is selectable. Set the resolution. Quit Eve. Set your monitor(s) back to the normal resolution. Ellisd |

You might have to click the "Widescreen Res" box now to get the res to show

At least with the Geforce 8800 GTS card I have I can only run EVE in windowed mode at resolutions that my monitor supports for fullscreen. An easy way to fix this is to use RivaTuner and then add a custom resolution. Voila, you are now able to play in what ever resolution you wan't (ofc not larger resolutions or at higher refresh rates than what your GF/monitor supports)

The custom resolution approach won't work with VISTA though, unless the monitor supports the resolution. Is there any other way to have a windowed client run on something other than the maximum resolution? Having to make a choice between 1600 and 1024 isn't exactly helpful ;-)

The problem is that your resolution (atlest was for me) is not listed in the Graphic Control panel, and I dont mean the normal one in windows, but the one that comes with your graphic driver... example: "Nvidia Control Panel". To fix it, go in there and add your screen resolution manualy.. I even made a screenshot, for the ppl. that dont understand english. http://go-dl1.eve-files.com/media/0712/nvidiacontrol.gif

I run Vista, I can't change resolutions in the NVIDIA control panel so I use RivaTuner to add custom resolutions instead.

Very useful for a dual monitor setup to make your windowed client look like its on full screen, but still act like its windowed.
