This is the stupidest thing I've read all day.
It's not the driver's fault for being in a wreck. It's the car manufacturer's for letting us drive the car anywhere we want.
Shockingly stupid doesn't begin to qualify the above quote.

I'd like the OP to explain what kind of company releases a product that people should EXPECT to be broken when it is first released.
Please, enlighten me.

A computer software company ^_^
You do realize that many companies release software that are free of critical bugs, correct?
Imagine what console software companies would still be in business if they released finalized software on hardcopy that crashed systems. The convenience of updating has made companies like CCP lazy. This is not the first time CCP has released an update that ruined an OS.
That people have to learn to expect CCP not to do a proper job tells me enough.

Console games still ship with many bugs. They tend to be rarer than in PC software as people are less tolerant, and systems are standardised. Many console games are still patched via e.g. X-Box Live.
I didn't say they didn't ship with bugs. Read again. I said, 'free of critical bugs'. For ages console software companies didn't have the chance to 'patch', and at the time the software and programming was complex for the time. They somehow managed though. Didn't they? Apologetics doesn't fly with me.

This problemn in particular is a pretty major error on CCP's part too, though.
Bingo.

CCP should of.c. have tested their patch a lot better.
Understatement of the year.
I still love watching all the CCP fanbois (and the MS haters) try to blame MS for this ABSOLUTELY STUPID MISTAKE on CCP's part.
So yes, anyone blaming MS for CCP's mistake still qualifies as the stupidest thing I've read all day.

Actually, I'd say your biased views are a strong contender for that title! Black/white usually aren't.
CCP should have tested better! Microsoft should have made a proper OS!
You focusing on one company's mistake and completely ignoring the other company isn't a fair evaluation. I wonder who you work for
What? I blame the smacktard in CCP who named a useless file "boot.ini" in the first place.
That makes far too much sense. Why not jump on the fanboi bandwagon along with everyone else and just keep apologizing for CCP's massive lack of customer consideration and quality assurance?
Probably because you have a brain and pay for your own account.

The answer to that question is (on a worldwide scale): Approximately ZERO!
What world do you live in? I have purchased software for well over 20 years and have countless games and programs that were released that were free of critical bugs.
Stop being a moron.

MICROSOFT!!!!!!!!
98 XP VISTA??
all these had CRITICAL bugs, hell Vista is famed for being the best operating system for working with NOTHING!!!!
oh and their hardware isn't much better, any 360 owners with 3 red lights can confirm this
The irony in your statement is that Vista actually SAVED some people from CCP's screw-up this time around.
Looks like you're WRONG.

The matter of the fact is, that a PROPER OS wouldn't have allowed ANY application to let a simple mistake like this screw up the system. Linux wouldn't! MacOS wouldn't!
Vista is not safe against bugs like this either even if you try to say so. It just happened not to be affected by this one because it didn't have that particular file. Unfortunately, Vista has essentially the same design fault as XP, since applications install either with super-user credentials, or can elevate themselves to that level.
Microsoft is just as much to blame as CCP, since they are the ones who've released a platform which is not immune to these kinds of user errors.
Your Microsoft fanboi'ism is funny, and my guess is a lot of people are amused at your selective blame-casting. I know I am
You, sir, are more of a moron than I thought.
As post #23 in this thread states (which is also accurate) any OS in admin mode will allow modifications to files.
Stop lying. Your apologetics for CCP make you look like a fool. Your irrational hate for MS (and your lying about their OS) makes you look childish.

And your point is? Regardless of the OS's permissions, CCP had no business changing that file.
Bingo. Again.
Kerifra wrong. Again.

Look at the post above
Difference is, MS OS has admin access as the ONLY option. Other OS can be made (and usually is by default) secure against this kind of mistake.

What the Hell are you talking about? When is the last time you used Windows?
Not to mention, this doesn't even address how WRONG you are about Mac, Linux, etc.
You are either stupid, or lying. Look at the other responses to this thread to see how lost you are.
