so trinity is here and my old computer's finally showing it's age... as i am unable to use the premium content i had to settle with the classic version but my fps has dropped from around 50fps to around 15-20fps average.
any thoughts on how to solve this? (other than to go out immediately and buy a new compter, funds are a bit low atm =/ )

Same here, FPS dropped to like 5-10. Good thing is I get the same FPS when running the premium gfx. But overall the FPS dropped badly to a nearly unplayable level.

Can you please supply information about your hardware? We tested and in most cases framerate was better under trinity than then old client.
If you are having a worse experience we would like to fins out why. CCP Lingorm CCP Quality Assurance QA Engineering Team Leader

Yup same for me but I know it is due to my old graphics card.
E6750 @ 3.6GHz 2GB DDR2 800MHz NVidia 6600GT
Used to have about 160-170 FPS in station before, dropped to about 100-120 now.

My setup:
P4 3.06 Ghz 1 GB RAM NV 7600 GT, 512MB VideoRAM
Before Trinity, I could run 2 clients very well. Performance was okay, don't have exact numbers.
Since Trinity, I tried the following configs:
HDR on, Cache OFF Trinity Content ON, Normal Shadows.
Performed bad with 5-10 FPS. Switched HDR OFF, no change in FPS.
Switched Trinity Stuff off, no change in FPS.
Switching from windowed to full screen boosts me from roughly 5 to 10 FPS.
The general settings (resolution, color depth etc.) are like pre-trinity. I have not turned on any AA or something thru the nv drtiver settings, but had 2x AA before trinity. Havent tried to run 2 clients so far, but guess it won't get better. There seem to be no difference wether I use the new content or not, something is really hitting the brake. GFX drivers are nvidias latest, as suggested. Please let me know if you want benchmarks (which?), dxdiags or something send in.

Upgrading to classic has killed my cpu as well. My fps is lower and I notice a lot more stuttering and freezes while playing with 2 windowed clients. Also if I try and launch a web browser while the two clients are running it takes a LOT longer for it to load and show up. Where there was a little left-over cpu before, there's none now. Before when I pressed start, the menu would pretty much show up right away. It takes around 5 or 6 seconds to show up now. This is a 2nd pc I use to run Eve when I'm not at home. My main machine is much newer and everything runs great.

Edited by: Holy Nuttah on 07/12/2007 17:22:34 Edited by: Holy Nuttah on 07/12/2007 17:22:09 Interesting Observation: At this very moment, I have all the Trinity GFX turned off and EVE is in windowed mode, showing the login screen.
If I drag the window to my primary display, I get an average 50 FPS with spikes up to 190. If I drag the window to the secondary display, FPS drops to 10. I can reproduce this over and over. Again, nv driver settings regarding AA&AF etc. are matching each other.

Having probs too.
OP Win xp64 SP1, CPU Opteron 165/S939, 1GB RAM, X1600 Pro
No AA/AF, fps is max around 80, most times under 30. With Premium on it's about 12 - 30.
Before it dropped rarely under 50 under any circumstances.
Haven't tried xp32 yet.

the new classic client killed my frames too, it stutters all the time even with EVE minimized. when minimized (even now) the mouse cursor will freeze for a second every few seconds just dragging it across the screen. this is while docked at a station.
amd athlon 3000+ 2.17ghz 1 gig RAM geforcefx 5200
client was smooth before patch, now its unplayable I didnt install any premium content just the small update on classic client.

Well on my top of the line rig Trinity full option runs great ...
On my crappy laptop ( p 1.8ghz m740, 1gb 533 ram, geforce go6200 ) Eve classic runs about the same it ever did, with some improvements during heavy load. Usually it's around 30 fps, goes down to 15-20 when it gets real busy.
So I'm very happy with the patch on both counts.

I got impression CCP only testes some framworks.
For me, the game has become unplayable,
so unless fixed, I'll have to cancel both subscriptions.

Sence the patch, while running classic, my fps is tanked. Ran great with high settings before. It now crashes my 'puter when I enter into a battle, or at some point in the battle. Have updated everything run every prog I can think of, still crashes.
1.57 Ghz AMD 768 RAM 128MP 5200fx geforce vidcard
I Just started playing and love the game and in a great Corp. With out a fix very soon, I am moving on to a different game.

ok, i get 45-50fps while in station and 10-15fps while 'in space'. something must be way wrong, i used to get around 40-50fps EVERYWHERE (large fleet engagement's not included) with my pc's current setup.
1gb ram AMD athlon 2800+ nvidia geforce4 32mb gpu (my 128mb blew but i still got 40-50 fps with the 32mb) all drivers are up to date and working. the only thing that i can think is causing the problem is people playing eve classic and premium in the same system. would that make a difference?

I get this fps when i select on ati tray tools in 3D profiles -->Max quality
when i select max speed i get avg. fps 35.2 in station, but ships are ughly :(.

Cache = high is NOT what you should chose with your setup. Try low or off, might help.

I'm getting vastly reduced performance and artefacts on my classic client.
Machine specs are as follows ... (laptop):
- Centrino Duo 2ghz - 1gig RAM (667mhz) - ATI x1400 128mb video card
It's a dell laptop, btw. Very disappointing. And it really doesn't like the Trinity client at all. I've tried both. _____________________________ Eldo spanked my sig but I can't be bothered changing it just now. |

I have a Compaq Presario R3000. Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.20GHz 1,280.00 MB Total Physical Memory Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB As far as my graphics card it show's ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9000/9100 IGP Version of eve - Classic Version
Before Trinity I could run 2 accounts absolutely fine with no flickering. When I'd try to run 3 I'd get the flickering on all accounts. Now that Trinity is here I have to reboot after I log off an account and try to bring it back up. My pointer just acts like its busy and I can't do antying on my comp.
I just now contacted Compaq cause I was having trouble trying to update my drivers but after they pointed me in the right direction and after updating my drivers I cannot get eve to pop up.
I click on the eve icon and nothing appears. Before I downloaded the drivers I could turn on my comp and run two accounts but it was extremely slow and like someone else pointed out I couldnt really do anything on my comp with eve up. After I'd close one out though I'd have to reboot if I wanted to bring a new client up again. I just now deleted all traces of eve from my comp and I'm trying it again.
I've got 2 games I bought at the begining of the year I still have not played. Fear and Stronghold 2. If I continue to have troubles with eve I'll cancel my 4 accounts and try out some other games.

ESC menu, Graphics Tab, on the right hand you find the cache options.
You won't in eve classic.
This looks like cache settings in classic client:
But iirc, you cannot set the cache size on a premium client that got the premium content disabled?!

yup, already looked into that, you don't see the cache settings...there must be a workaround for this...?

I'm having this issue as well; my fps has dropped to 5-ish while 'in space'. While docked it goes back up to pre-trinity classic levels.
Something else strange I noticed is that my fps goes back up to pre trinity classic levels as long as I'm warping and the 'Warp drive active' text is shown. The moment I drop out of warp my fps nosedives again.
It's really frustrating especially since it worked so well before the patch, so I'm cheering for the devs to work something out!

What I don't get is why my graphics worked so well, and then died in trinity. I'm not using the premium graphics and everything looks the same as it did before, just now there are way fewer frames per second. I know my card is way out of date, but it ran perfectly fine, around 30 frames per second, before trinity classic.
