We've had issues in the past with sun occlusion, so it might be worth turning that off in the graphics settings just in case something has gone wrong there.
If it is related to that, please let us know.

Sun occluded by ship is off.

My EvE appears to crash randomly when at gates (not necessarily loading them). Tried it with every cache level and with HDR off, but no difference.
Doesn't happen all the time either, just occasionally.

Scratch the temperature theory. Temps never exceeded 42 C. Also, it happens randomly, docked, while hanging in a safe, belt or gate without any activity going on.
Will try later if clearing the cache helps.

Cleared cache, also didn't help.
Needs fixing, please, this is umplayable!
There's little a sledgehammer can't fix. If you can't fix it, you need a bigger sledgehammer. If it's unfixable, blame CCP. :p

Edited by: insidion on 07/12/2007 18:35:04 Also cleared my cache to no avail. Vista 64, Core2Quad Q6600, 8800GTS 320, 169.75 (happened on 169.69 too), windowed mode, doesn't always happen, but only happens when entering warp. Seems the highest chance for it to happen is warping just when leaving a station and spinning the camera around. When it used to happen on Sisi, I'd just get CTD. Now on TQ I get CTD, but something about DEP pops up (I know, I know, should have caught what it said, soz heh).

Thanks, trying now and will let you know, but it doesn't happen too often so might be a while before I could report success or failure.

I had sun occlusion turned off till yesterday, and it was fine, although I hadnt tried it in test, I found a new November build of dx and ati drivers, so I have updated them. Although minor shadow glitches are still present in hangar on occasion.
if I get this again, I will disable sun occlusion. If not could be a dx driver requirement for the novemmber redist. After updating played for another hour didnt cause any problems, although wasnt doing much in game.
running XP 32bit os, dual x1900xtx in crossfire config. quadcore processor and running 1900x1200 resolution. Oh driver updates did appear to seriously improve framerate performance. Managed to hit 130fps in warp, bloom off though.

I'm getting a random crash while trying to undock. Happening on both my computers--one with premium content the other without.
Premium Computer
AMD Athlon 64 FX-62 Dual Core 2.8ghz ATI Radeon X1950 Crossfire 4 gig RAM
Non-Premium
AMD Athlon XP 2400+ 2ghz Radeon 9800XT 1 gig RAM
I just turned down the cache to low for the premium machine to see if that helps.
Could, I guess, be a heat problem for the Non-Premium machine, but definitely not for the good one--both of those cards have heat monitors that say they are doing fine heat wise.

On my system the answer was to turn off sound.
On the old patch level I didn't have problems, but trinity does a hard BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) to my PC.
Try disabling sound and see if you get the same thing.
Not that I often fly with sound enabled (TS etc), but I think that the market and CCP should now proclaim that they are compatible with RealTek instead of SoundBlaster, especially if you consider how many main boards have that chip set. --

I wouldn't scratch the temperature theory completely, for some people at least. I did a test, to see what temperatures I had in-station and outside.
Before Trinity I had 48-55c temp, inside or outside a station. But now, inside a station I ad 72c and it seems to be rising even further. Outside I had about 62c. I have a X1900XT card, but I have replaced the stock fan with a Zalman which cools the card considerably compared to stock.
Speed of my fan was set to low, as it always have been. When I set fan to max the temperature inside station was holding at 62c. I remember testing this in Rev once, and then it was 42c and holding. All these temperatures are within limits though, but I am unsure if a stock fan would cool as much.
I have no fancy settings or anything in Trinity, and I have tried both classic and premium clients.
I have not experienced any crashes though, knock on wood, but if someone is using stock fans you should monitor your temperature both inside and outside station for a while. 10 minutes at least, to be sure.

Thanks CCP Redundancy! It's still premature, but disabling 'Sun is occluded by ships' so far does seem to work. Done several missions now, and no matter what I try I can't recreate the crash now. It's interesting to note that trying to toggle occlusion back on doesn't seem to work (visually it looks the same, tried both apply buttons just in case, no dice).
Edit: Just to be clear, seems you need to redock or just restart your client to toggle occlusion.
Originally by: Jaabaa Prime On my system the answer was to turn off sound.
I used to never play with sound, now I have it on. So far occlusion does seem to be the source. Will keep the updates coming!

I've had this too.
Crashed about 5 times a day ATM.
I thought it was to do with me having 2 clients open, but it has also done it with just one, just now.
All my drviers are up to date, I have sound off, and running Win XP SP2.
I've got....
2x Nvidia 7900 GTX cards, in windowed mode @ 1920x1080 (Windows in 2560x1600) Premium graphics. HDR off and Shadow on Normal :( (too slow with that any higher) GFX card is running aroun 60-70 temp wise.
Doesnt crash with any other software.
Reinstalled both Eve & Win XP, didnt help.
Its strange, I can go hours without a crash, then it can crash 3 times within an hour.
I 'think' its when I click on something, but I'm not 100% sure yet.
Rob.

The problem that i think you are describing is related to a large memory leak that is triggered by something that i have not yet discovered, HOWEVER, the memory leak becomes noticeable when the name of a selected orbit item starts blinking on and off.
This memory leak should be effecting everyone, i know everyone in my corp has the same problem, those with more than 2gb of ram seem to be able to ride the leak out for a long time before it causes a hard lock, but, for myself i only have 2gb of ram and run 2 clients so it does not take long to crash my pc.
The only work around I have found is to reboot EVE once the name of an orbit item starts flashing.

Hmm i notice after about an hour of play i go from 160 to 180 fps sitting in station and suddenly my fps starts dropping like a rock down to 40s and down down down until i have to quit and restart.
c2d e6600 @ 3.1ghz, 2 gig ram, 8800gts, 680i mb, realtek onboard audio, win XP sp2.
Temps are fine highest my video card gets is around 60c at the hottest usually not much above 50c. processor is barely bothered at all. So is some kind of leak going on. Tho i see noone in alliance chat report the same issues i notice tho people saying they are crashing out i have seen.

Crashed again with nov07 dx redist and the ati nov drivers.
although I had 2 clients running, it might be related although I had a crash with a single client. I've now been running single client for about 3 hours solid now, no crashes. Then again all I am doing is mining this time. Not warping to gates.

ALSO getting this! But I am having 'SOFT' crashes when entering warp and exactly as you described. The game.exe crashes and freezes, pops up a close window. I have had to revert back to the old graphics because of extreme unreliability and unstability.
My graphics card is running at a stable temperature of 50c, cpu even lower, and there is no hardware issue that I am aware of. Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme Edition X6800 Corsair XMS2 DDR2 2048MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT With forceware 169.02 drivers SB X-Fi XtremeMusic Windows XP Pro Eve Premium boot.ini delete version w/ sound off
I have submitted a bug report with multiple logs. Better get to fixing it otherwise it is a 50-man-year waste of time. --------------

I had to completly wipe my drives and start over again, with a fresh install of windows and everything else...............................
I really ****ed atm. First, boot.ini, then it did something else 2 windows, that couldn't be repaired and had to be wiped. But before all this, i was crashing in the test server just the same, no sound, was a graphic issue. Causing a full computer reboot.

wow dude, thats intense, please note though, that they dont use registry settings, only cfg/ini files for their game, you should never need to wipe the drives. Boot.ini was easy to recover with your windows recovery disk. Which should have been the first thing you did before formating. Never format unless you have to is my moto. you can even re-install windows without losing contents (data). Formating is never required really, except for a first time install, even then drives come pre-formatted now. If files are fragmented just defrag them with defrag or thirdparty defraggers.
