As long as there are ships far more powerful than yours, then it is more fun to not only try to take them down, but to also get to the point where you can fly it yourself. And as the game progresses, it should introduce ships even more powerful and difficult to get into than that.

Originally by: RaAshan From reading the forums and hearing everyone chienne-ing about "nerfs", I've noticed something. It seems that people don't want a fair level, balanced game. They want to have a game where one thing is better than everything else, and that one thing should be the thing they like the most! (i.e. drones, torpedos, hamsters)
Well guess what dudes! A game is supposed to be fun, and it's supposed to be a challenge. Why do you wanna be spoon fed? Can you not play well enough, or use your creativity to develope new ideas? ADAPTATION!
Get out there and start enjoying the game! Throw your silly bias' out the window and realise that the changes being instilled in patches are for the better overall gameplay. If you don't think so, at least show how it lowers overall gameplay for everyone.
Don't expect a patch to come out and give you the Supreme Oppressor's black box. It won't happen. Why would you want it to happen?

No offense, but that sounds just like world of Warcraft with it's various armor sets. Every player strives for the same set of kit, there is a large pool of high level players who have it and get to be uber while having exactly the same talents and kit as all the other powergamers.
I don't find the idea of EVE with effectively six or seven ships attractive. The mentality you suggest relegates everything else to merely being a stepping stone on the path to your "endgame" ship.
Meanwhile, since the only way to keep players interested is to introduce yet another stepping stone your old "uber" ship and setup becomes outdated and you must train for and fit a new one (along with every one else on your "level"), the new players get left further and further behind.
With this kind of mentality I could cut through a newbie corp fleet the same way a max level and kit character could wade through noobie blood in a WoW starting area.
In short, it's a bad idea.
Today I might fly a Rokh, tomorrow a Megathron, the next day a Tempest. Each may be fitted for close range combat, each offering a similar yet substantially different experience. To me having various ships able to fill similar roles in differing ways is an excellent feature, that the very same ship can often be set-up for a different role and still perform roughly on par with it's brethren is better still.
Balance can never be perfect and is based around mixed fleets (which I feel is a shame as a role-player and someone who has high hopes for factional warfare) but without it combat wise the game would become a second rate WoW in space. -------- EVE Trinity: THE SKY IS FALLING! |

The plethora of whine slime has forced me to revive this thread.
The best so far today was this thread.
Ares Lightfeather lit it up with his comment. No one even noticed their backward logic, probably because of the plague they have.
Yeah, that's right, I'm quite certain Eve is infected with a disease. One that affects a persons ability to have fun. The only cure will be to create more threads on topics not concerning nerfs, bugs or Jita.
Please don't catch it, stay away from the whine slime!

Wow, I got quoted. Thanks. Even if I just said what seemed normal to me.

That's why you got quoted! You just thought about the results 2 seconds longer than anybody else.
