There is some real VISION in thie thread that is so sorely lacking from most people and threads.
If you think about the possibilities with Eve it actually makes it look primitive now.
The concept of metropolitan areas and having an office in the back of Seedys bar and grill....fantastic
The concept of a station having perimeter defenses and even security cameras posted on all entry stargates...viewable from within the station (like a security guard at a museum)at a control panel with the ability to aim/control/fire sentry guns....pann,zoom the sec cameras,etc...fantastic
Like it or not there is one thing that Eve lacks which makes it very unrealistic....that thing is quality of life. In real life quality of life is why everyone continues to exist....comfortable house, meaningful work, kids that love you, entertainment....all those things are the motivation to keep peace. The motivation to make war is the desire to expand/commandere resources....only SO THAT the quality of life activities can then be restarted
So how is quality of life simulated? and element to space structures in space cities that have ****/movies theaters...bars...diners....farmers markets...chinatown...the possibilites are endless but when a corp builds a solar system totally decked out there is a certain quality of life that one has....when they see other players using thier facilities for something of value. 24 pilots served today
However the engine besides quality of life structures is a battery of ongoing needs...
such as... hunger thirst lust friendship toiletries new clothes Ambition Willpower (different from the attribute) Charisma (different from the attribute) and whateverelse....these need to be scales that over time slowly degenerate and need to be refilled...like for lust....you pay some money at the XXX theater and see some skin....for thirst you go buy some water, but if you buy alchohol it temporarily relieves thirst and boosts your Charisma scale (again not the attribute) but day to day ups and downs, but also increases your degen rate later on as dehydration sets in
Another huge win would be to integreate First-person style interaction on the planet level...be able to pick up guns and get into shootouts...buy land based vehicles that can be stored in a garage....kind of like when you play Eve...once you dock on a planet it turns into Grand Theft Auto style perspective, but in a space age city/planet
Yes of course some of these things would take a long time to develop, but damn....Eve could totally dominate by combining the best of EQ, GTA3, EVE, and Unreal 2k3
I just hope the product manager or whoever REALLY calls the shots has a big enough VISION for this game and is passionate and committed to it and the devs dont whine cause "its too hard"
