I have recently started having some fun with the Buzzard flying around invisible and such. I especially like going through systems almost unnoticed or watching gate camps from a distance as poor unsuspecting people jump through only to get blown away.
All that aside, my main issue is obviously getting through gate camps/blockades. I have been able to get through 99% of the blockades (5+ ships, bubbles etc.) But the technique I am using seems to be a little untechnical.
When I first started messing around with the Buzzard and ran into blockades, when I got on the other side of a warp gate I just double clicked to the place I wanted to go, clicked cloak, and did my stuff. I thought for sure this wasn't the proper technique because I would be visible on the overview for half a second and visible in space for half a second, but when I read other posts on forums, it seems that his haphazard way of espionage is the only real way.
So uh, is there another way besides double clicking, clicking cloak, and hoping they don't get to you before you warp? If so, this seems a little uh, flawed.

I'm not sure I understand the problem.
No bubble: You give the command to warp to where you need to warp and then almost right away (or as soon as you see your capacitor drop) hit cloak.
If there is a bubble: You doubleclick in space to start moving out of the bubble, and then immediately turn on your afterburner or mwd (which ever one you're using) and then cloak in quick succession. Once you've moved out of the bubble you warp to where you need to warp.
What's wrong with that?

Definately fit an mwd, possibly a speedmod (nano or overdrive) too. If bubbled, double click to get yourself moving away from bubble, mwd and cloak. If there is no bubble, I usually start to move towards a planet pr mext gate, mwd, cloak, warp.

Why MWD first?
Can you not use modules after you cloak?

The MWD or AB stays active for the duration of that first cycle while cloaked. Which means you can move out of range very quickly before someone tries to get in de-cloaking range. ------------------------------------------------- **** Name ONE thing that your windows comp can do that my MAC cant

You can't use mwd's or afterburners while cloaked.
But what you can do, is turn them on and then instantly cloak. You will cloak and the mwd/afterbnurner will run for 1 cycle (while you're cloaked) before turning off automatically.

Corpses floating around the gate will be your biggest annoyance and cause of death..
unless you have it on overview.. you wont see it and will be wondering wtf your cloak isn't turning on ------------ This is not War... This is pest control - Dalek Sek

Basically: add everything which could bump/decloak you to the overview, save that for gate-camp running, and hit the MWD for a cycle.

Been doing it way for a while now. I like to see whats going on in the sector. If you jumping away, dont matter if they see you for a second. Before they can hit the lock, your half way to the next gate.

Nah in a ship that can fit a covops cloak (eg Buzzard) you have a few seconds after you hit the cloak to hit your MWD and you will still get the full bonused speed for one cycle.
I like doing the cloak first because my focus after jumping into a gate camp is to get the cloak activated. Also, if I wait a sec after re-cloaking before hitting the MWD, I find it allows me to maintain a higher speed for slightly longer. It only matters if I jump into a bunch of T2 anchored bubbles, but it's an edge, nonetheless.

The way I do it is pretty much that. I fit an MWD and my cloaking device, then I set my cloak as the F1 Key and The MWD as the F2 key. Then you look around the bubble and find the shortest way out of it, the edge closest to you and with any luck you are alinged to. Then you double click your way out hit F1 and F2 at the same time and you cloak and burn before most people noticed you poped up on overview.

On my buzzard I just put 2xODII. Max top cloaked speed ftw.
I envy you covops pilots that have 3 lows, though.
However, my buzzard wins in the looks department, too bad it's invisible 99% of the time
