Maybe what you should be asking is: How many people did they have working on it before the 20% cut? We were never told this, were we?

CCP will have to really start advertising and fast to hope for a semi-successful game. I used to think that the only people who would play Dust would be Eve players. I don't believe that this is true, but from what I've seen lately, there are plenty of people who don't play Eve who are interested to see what Dust will be like. Usually people who visit PlayStation websites. |

I daresay Sony is the only game company outside of Blizzard that has as active a community of haters as supporters.
Coercing the entire high def video industry into Bluray was a rather shady step, but hey, at least they get to sell Bluray players now. |

We are a consumer base that needed to correct the faulty path of the product in which we all invested. They are fighting for their rights of life.
And, I'm sorry but DUST is only going to be selling so many copies because most people have refused to buy a PS3 or has already gotten rid of theirs. Again, a statement suggesting DUST may be the biggest game of 2012 based on naive hopes. It simply CAN'T be the biggest game because Sony is your developer. PC Gaming != Console Gaming.
I haven't even enlisted in the military and I'd say my outsider expectations are more grounded than CCP's new CMO.
Woah, you scored a really high score in being clueless...
- DUST 514 will be FTP - There are 60 million PS3 around the world, or 150 PS3 players per active EVE subscriber - DUST is being developed by CCP Shanghai; Sony is just the online distributor and a tech partner with the Tranquility - SOIn interaction |

EVE Online had once one of the best communities...
... now we have rotten spoiled brats with a false sense of entitlement whining on the forums because CCP dares to develop another game.
If you think a WoD MMO will be about sparkling twilight vampires then you have no clue and should STFU.
If you think that your monthly subscription entitles you to anything else but access to the game and think that CCP should stop developing anything other then FiS then you are delusional and should seek medical attention. |

I seem to recall that community existed before 2006, before GM's spawning op items in "rp events," titans, T20 drama, boot.ini, faction failfare, patches that took fleet fights down from 1.5k to 500, new sov system that was supposed to remove pos-bashing but instead was more of the same... Incarna's "delivery" of WiS mmo aspect that turned out to be forced solo jailcell was the straw that broke camels back.
It's like any old relationship, at start everything is love, hug and kisses, then slowly harsh reality of life and negative aspects of partner start to show. The longer it goes on and the less there are good things to concentrate on, the more negative aspects gain foothold. CCP's track record looks like lover who beats partner every now and then and is sure to apologize profoundly after it. Community is the nagging partner pointing out even the smallest mistakes CCP makes, let alone commenting how CCP should act.
As for monthly sub entitling to something, well, consumers are entitled to choose, many people chose not to roll with it and the loss of income before their "next money grinders" were out scared the company to apologize mode again. Kinda like lover who hears that partner is preparing to leave forever.
CCP has love-hate relationship with it's customers, balancing it out not to mention moving it towards more healthy relationship requires work from both sides, but both sides still hold the trigger in their gun. CCP has the servers and whatnot, customers have the $$$. If CCP starts to get $$$ en-masse from somewhere else, it will tune down the impact eve $$$ has, hence eve users will start to lose their influence on CCP if and when WoD/Dust are released and start to gather players. There's nothing delusional thinking that CCP should stop developing something else, it's perfectly normal thinking where player tries to maintain the importance of his position. Nothing personal, just business. Eve teaches that. |

I don't have to feel entitled to lobby for my interests - and the refocusing of CCP shows that this strategy can work.
If the threat of destroying EVE/CCP is overused CCP staff might at some point end up as shell-shocked trembling wrecks who follow an erratic policy of trying to do everything right while being convinced they can never do it right - but so far I don't really see this on the horizon.
It's a perpetual game of bargaining between seller/producer and customer and the only really stupid thing would be to postulate that the best interests of both parties are magically aligned at all times. |

While I agree, CCP did bring alot of it on themself and my EVE radar knows that if it can be turned in to a weakness, it will be.
As for WoD I completely agree. CCP are insane to not get WoD off the ground. Being blackmailed by 15% of EVE players is no way to run a business.
And for all you little combat Ken wieners out ther? Combat Barbie? Really? Its a video game, we are all playing Combat Barbie and Combat Ken. Get a grip. |
