As all Caldari flyers know, our tank is mostly mids unless you use passive tanking in which you use both mids and lows.
But of course in pvp a passive tank would be a silly idea to do on a HAC if you would want to solo pvp.
Caldari heavy assault ships are lacking in tanking skills if anyone should ever want to tackle with one.
Take the Eagle,
Highs 6highs
4blasters 2 HAMs
Mids( to correctly tackle) 5mids
Web
Scram
MWD
2 left over for tanking.
Lows
2 mag stabs
1 dcu
1 PDS (because the power grid is low)
It goes the same for the Cerberus for the mids.
But if you look at the T1 variations on this ship or any caldari HAC, they all have Drone bays. they may be 15m3or 10m3 but they still have drone bays.
Even the minmitar ships have drone bays and their hacs both have 25m3 drone bays.
The stabber has a 5m3 drone bay, and the vagabond has a 25m3
I am not saying give the Caldari Hac's any more mid slots or anything, i'm only asking for a 25m3 drone bay so a smart solo Caldari pilot in a HAC could have one more free spot to tank.
All that would mean is that pilot has a better chance to stand his ground in his fight, the drone can be kill easily if the combatant is smart enough to see that its webbing him, and then they can just crawl away from the slow Caldari ship.
So this idea would only give the pilot a SLIGHT chance of being able to hold a target down an still be able to do damage to them.If the pilot wants to put light drones into the drone bay and still only have two mids left for tanking with a tackle set up, let them do it, in the end it wont matter as we all know how fast a shield tanker can go down.
Pvp is kill first or be killed right?
Looking at any other HAC they ALL are armor tankers and have 5+ low slots minimum some of them even having 7 lows for almost purely tanking, and they still have drone bays, and they can ALL tackle and do enough DPS to bring down a target the same size or even bigger than them.
I understand the Eagle and Cerberus are supposed to be "long range" attack ships, But that makes them almost utterly useless for solo pvp.
Honestly it will bring them rather in line with all the different races Hac's.
Hope people like it and it dosen't offend the other races :P
